Eliza, who is Princess Diana's niece, announced that her longtime boyfriend, Channing Millerd, had proposed in Santorini, Greece, on July 31. The bride-to-be posted a photo of Millerd down on one knee while she crouched beside him in front of a candlelit table overlooking the picturesque scenery.
"Forever and Ever ♥️," she captioned the engagement post.
Eliza and Millerd have been dating since 2016, ever since they met at a dinner party in South Africa through her twin sister Lady Amelia Spencer's now-husband, Greg Mallett. They dated for nine years and before their engagement, Eliza gushed that Millered was "the One."
Millerd is a businessman and entrepreneur hailing from South Africa. Prior to starting his relationship with Eliza, he welcomed a son.

He’s from South Africa
Just like Eliza, Millerd was also raised in Cape Town, South Africa. However, unlike his fiancée, he stayed there for most of his young adult life and attended various schools. He began his education at Western Province Preparatory School before receiving his higher education at Bishops Diocesan College, according to his LinkedIn.
He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in creative brand communications at the Vega School Cape Town and furthered his education with a degree in marketing and advertising communications at the Red & Yellow Creative School of Business.
In addition to his studies, Millerd participated in a myriad of athletic activities — including rugby, swimming and water polo. Later on in his career, Millerd coached water polo and rugby at a local high school.
He’s a businessman and entrepreneur

After graduating from the Bishops Diocesan College, Millerd began working in marketing and sales at various companies as a sales representative and marketing executive, per his LinkedIn. In 2020, he became the chief operating officer of DataLedger, a FinTech company in South Africa.
In 2024, he slightly shifted gears and began working as the chief operating officer at Marxhoff, where he "leads operations and strategic growth across a portfolio of ventures," per his LinkedIn. Under the Marxhoff brand, he has worked with professional rugby players Steven Kitshoff and Malcolm Marx at their company, Bomb Squad Beer.
Another brand that Millerd is also helping out with is the upcoming wine brand, Lala V, that Eliza co-founded with Amelia in 2025.
“We’ve been working on a rosé brand called Lala V — it’s a play on Eliza’s childhood nickname Lala and the French word for life, vie," Amelia told the Daily Mail in March 2025. "The brand aims to represent joie de vivre — a joyful exuberance for life. We can’t wait to go on this journey together."
He has a son from a previous relationship
Before Millerd began dating Eliza in 2016, he welcomed a son named Nate in 2014. The father and son appear to be close, as Millerd frequently posts photos of the two spending time together, including fishing, boogie boarding and riding jet skis.
In January 2022, Millered celebrated Nate's 8th birthday by posting a photo of them on Instagram and writing, "Happy birthday to my perfect boy. 8 years of being your dad has been the best of my life. I love you so much my beautiful Nate 🎉🥳."
He met Lady Eliza through one of his “closest friends” – her twin sister’s husband

Millerd met Eliza in 2016 when they both attended a dinner party in South Africa. At the time, Eliza was with her sister, Amelia, while Millerd was a guest of Amelia's then-boyfriend, Mallett. Millerd and Mallet were longtime friends who went to school together in Cape Town and bonded over the same sports.
"Channing is one of my best and closest friends," Mallet told Hello! in March 2025. "We played a lot of the same sports, like rugby and water polo, and naturally shared a lot of the same interests. More than that, we share the same values – loyalty, ambition, integrity and a strong sense of family – which has kept our bond strong over the years."
The two couples have remained close over the years and often attend events, do interviews and celebrate holidays together.
They got engaged in July 2025 after nine years of dating
After nine years of dating, Millered proposed to Eliza during a romantic candlelit dinner on the cliffs of Santorini, Greece, on July 31. They announced the exciting news by posting photos of Millerd down on one knee, the two embracing after the engagement and the breathtaking setup with flowers and candles.
Shortly after they announced the news, Amelia was one of the first people to congratulate the couple and commented under the post, "The best news everrrrrrrr. I couldn’t be happier for you both! The BEST NEWS IN THE WORLD. I love you both with all my heart! The perfect couple and dream engagement."
Prior to getting engaged, Eliza shared a rare insight into their relationship and told Hello! in March 2025 that marriage was "definitely something we’ve talked about."
"I absolutely believe he’s The One – our bond is built on so much trust, laughter and shared values," she told the publication. "We have such a strong, loving and supportive relationship. He truly is my best friend. We understand each other so well, and no matter what life brings, we’re always there for one another."
As for wedding plans, Eliza teased that they had already thought about where they would want to get married.
"We love the idea of a destination wedding," she told Hello! "We feel drawn to Italy, especially somewhere by the ocean — that feels so romantic to us. Spain has that same coastal charm we adore."
