Would you buy a Hummer EV SUV in Malaysia for RM1.5 million?
General Motors has not released the Hummer EV SUV in Malaysia, but through the ever resourceful local recon market, you can now get your hands on one. Even more interesting, the unit on sale is not a left-hand drive (LHD) model.
Not surprisingly, you need to fork out a lot of money if you want this EV in your garage. RM1.49 million, to be exact.
Is this Hummer EV really in Malaysia?

We first noticed the Hummer EV SUV through an Instagram story by Luxoticars. If you can recall, the luxury and consignment car specialist made his way to our radar last year after claiming that he had a Tesla Cybertruck for sale.
At the time this article was published, the Instagram story had since expired. Not only that, there is no listing of the Hummer EV on Luxoticars’ social media pages so far.

The Hummer EV SUV’s Mudah listing, as captured at 4:15 PM today.
Nevertheless, further search has brought us to a listing on Mudah by Joseph Tiong. We also found a video on Facebook by Magnus Pro Malaysia, which showed Paint Protection Film (PPF) being applied to the EV.
This detail might be quite trivial, but we noticed on the images from the Mudah listing and Luxoticars’ IG story that there is a Magnus Pro sticker on the EV’s rear door. Based on the landmarks and building characteristics that are visible inside the images in the Mudah listing, we also believe that the photography session for the listing took place in SS13, Subang Jaya.

With that, we are quite confident this unit is already here in Malaysia. Nevertheless, we still advise you to proceed with caution whenever dealing through an online marketplace such as Mudah, even if the listing was published by a profile verified by the platform.
Hummer EV SUV with RHD setup? Are you sure?

Officially, General Motors didn’t release the Hummer EV in a right-hand drive (RHD) setup. However, a handful of companies throughout the world were able to convert it to RHD.
Based on the images inside the Mudah listing, we believe this unit was converted by Autogroup International, which is an Australian company but based in Sri Lanka. One of the images showed that the volume switch is located on the right side of the infotainment screen, which is something that Autogroup International has highlighted in one of its social videos.

On the other hand, the UK-owned but UAE-based Global Conversions, which claimed itself as the first outfit in the world to convert Hummer EV to RHD, didn’t move the volume button.

Based on the unit’s Moonshot Green Matte colourway and the badge on the passenger side of the dashboard, this RHD-converted unit is likely a Hummer EV SUV Edition 1. While the listing in Mudah said that the Hummer EV SUV has a power output of 1,000hp, our research showed that the figure only applies to the pickup truck version of the Hummer EV.
For the SUV, the combined maximum power output for the 3-motor variant is actually 830hp alongside 15,592Nm (11,500 lb-ft) of torque and capable of hitting 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds. Powered by a 170kWh Ultium nickel-cobalt-manganese-aluminium (NCMA) battery, it can deliver up to 505km (314 miles) of EPA-rated range.

Will charging a Hummer EV in Malaysia be an issue?

Hummer EV has an 800V architecture, which allows for blazingly fast DC charging speed of up to 300kW. However, you may not be able to take full advantage of it in Malaysia.
The listing did not include an image of its charging port, but since the unit was likely sourced from the US before it was converted to RHD, we believe that it still features the original CCS1 charging port. So, you need to obtain adapters to charge it with EV chargers in Malaysia since we are using a Type 2 port for AC charging and CCS2 port for DC charging.

One such adapter that is available in Malaysia is the Feyree CCS2 to CCS1 DC/AC adapter, which usually costs less than RM700.
Once you have the suitable adapter, it shouldn’t be a problem to charge the Hummer EV in Malaysia. That being said, do note that the adapter’s capability and quality as well.
