Poll Reveals Collapse of GOP Senator’s Approval Rating

Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) re-election campaign is reportedly facing challenges, with his approval rating at only 34%. Winthrop University polls indicate that nearly 40% of voters disapprove of his performance. Dr. Annie Andrews (D) has entered South Carolina's race, aiming to capitalize on Graham's vulnerabilities.

Andrews announced her candidacy while criticizing Graham's inconsistent policy positions. Her previous attempt to secure a Congressional seat resulted in a 14-point loss to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).

Andrews said, "He's changed his position on nearly every issue over that time and that's because, in my view, he doesn't stand for anything or believe in anything other than what it takes to get reelected."

Graham won his last race against Jaime Harrison (D-SC) by 10 points. Heading into 2026, he has already secured endorsements from prominent South Carolina leaders.

Graham's Press Secretary Abby Zilch said, "What good is a political poll that doesn't survey likely or even registered voters?" She added, "South Carolina voters trust the America First agenda, and Senator Graham remains one of its fiercest defenders in the U.S. Senate."

Historically, no Democrat has won a U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina. Andrews plans to leverage any perceived vulnerabilities of Graham.

Zilch said, "The more effective you are in helping enact President Trump's agenda, the more Democrats want to take you down."

The Winthrop poll has indicated significant divisions on national and state issues. Less than 30% of Democrats believe the nation is on the right track, compared to over 70% of Republicans.
