CAPA Summer Movie Series returns with classic films and cult favorites

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, has unveiled its schedule for the 56th series, set to run from June 13 to August 24, 2025, at the historic Ohio Theatre. The series will feature 28 films over seven weeks, including 10 series premieres and six films marking significant anniversaries of their original releases.

Highlights of the series include a silent film with live musical accompaniment, Fright Nite Friday with Fritz, and two Saturday mornings of classic cartoons. Clark Wilson, celebrating his 34th year as the featured organist for the series, will provide pre-show entertainment on the Ohio Theatre’s "Mighty Morton" theatre organ. Associate organist David Fleisher will also perform.

Fright Nite Friday will feature a special presentation of "Alien" (1979) on August 8, complete with a full episode of Nite Owl Theatre. Select films will be audio-described for visually impaired patrons at no extra charge, and the ListenWIFI app will be available for assistive listening.

CAPA will offer free guided tours of the Ohio Theatre, including an organ demonstration by Clark Wilson, on August 2, 9, and 23. Reservations are required.

Tickets for the series are on sale now, with 10-packs available for $40 and single tickets priced at $6 ($5 for seniors). Tickets can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Center, online, or by phone.

The series is supported by PVS and promises a diverse lineup, including premieres like "In and Out" (1997) and "Cool Hand Luke" (1967), as well as anniversary screenings of classics like "The Sound of Music" (1965) and "The Blues Brothers" (1980).
