Princess Diana’s Nieces Amelia Spencer and Eliza Spencer Twin in Chic White Looks at Royal Ascot
For the penultimate day at the races, the Spencer sisters brought the glamour.

The Gist
- Princess Diana’s nieces Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer were a glamorous twosome at day 4 of Royal Ascot on June 20.
- The twin daughters of Charles Spencer wore coordinated white looks at the horse racing event beloved by members of the royal family.
- The sisters—who also launched a new campaign with iconic British brand Aspinal of London earlier this week—carried Aspinal bags to the penultimate day at Ascot on Friday.
It’s day 4 of Royal Ascot—one of the most iconic horse races in British culture. The ever-stylish Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer were there on June 20, carrying Aspinal of London bags the same week they were announced as the iconic British brand’s ambassadors.
The nieces of Princess Diana and the twin daughters of her younger brother Charles Spencer once again coordinated their outfits, as they’re known to do. The Spencer sisters wore matching white looks, wide-brimmed hats with black bows, and, yes, their bags—which Amelia and Eliza told Town & Country they’ve “been wearing” to “events and red carpet appearances for years.”

“To collaborate on this first campaign has been one of the most fun experiences of our careers,” they added. “The concept was different to anything we have done before.” Aspinal, it should be noted, is a royal favorite—Kate Middleton in particular is a big fan.
Many members of the royal family—from King Charles and Queen Camilla to Prince William and Princess Beatrice—have appeared at Ascot this week after it kicked off on June 17. (Today is the penultimate day at the races before the yearly event wraps up on June 21.) Princess Diana made many a stylish appearance at Ascot in the 1980s and 1990s, and Eliza told Tatler of their late aunt—who died when the twins were five years old in 1997—“We always just knew her as our aunt.”

She added that she “really had very little idea of how significant she was in the world until I was much older,” describing the late Princess of Wales as “incredibly warm, maternal, and loving.”
“She always made an effort to connect with us as children and had a talent for reading children’s hearts,” Eliza continued.
In a new interview with W released on June 20, Amelia said, “I think the last year or two have been some of the best years we’ve ever had.” She added, “Life is full and exciting for us right now.”

While Amelia and Eliza often coordinate on the red carpet and at events—and, no pun intended, sometimes even fully twin—Amelia describes the two of them as “quite shy people naturally, and having each other for such big moments like red carpets or campaigns—and just having my biggest, and I think Eliza’s biggest, support system there constantly—it’s so comforting.”
“So it’s a safety net and empowering,” she continued. “We encourage each other. We know how each other is feeling. If one’s not having the best day, we lift each other up, we work together.”

“We are so lucky,” Eliza added of their connection as twins. “There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t realize that. And I think our twin bond is truly indescribable. Obviously, we’ve shared this connection since before we entered the world, and it goes beyond words. We look at each other, we know exactly what we’re thinking. We’re identical inside and out. We almost feel like we’re soulmates.”
