Nicole Kidman Embodied Classic Elegance in Balenciaga at the Met Gala

Nicole Kidman is no stranger to suiting. At the 2025 Met Gala, the dress code of the evening was “Tailored for You,” with a focus on menswear and suiting, which seems right up Kidman’s alley; the pinstriped blue number she wore for her AMC intro has become one of the most iconic suits of the past few years. However, the Oscar-winning actor ended up surprising us all when she stepped out in a dress for the red carpet, courtesy of Balenciaga Haute Couture.

Kidman looked totally fabulous in her black-tie design, which was double cinched with a set of black bows and featured a strapless square neckline that extended out from Kidman’s torso.

Down low, the design featured an A-line skirt with subtle pleats, and she layered it over a set of tights, which she slipped into matching heels. Finally, Kidman completed the look with a set of short black gloves. And for jewelry, Kidman rocked Omega, while her beauty was done by Gucci Westman.

Stylistically, it seemed like Kidman was completing a sort of fashion trifecta, having shown up for the last three years to the Met in a series of looks in black and white.

The streak began with a creamy feathered dress in 2023 from Chanel, followed by a two-tone Balenciaga gown for the 2024 carpet. Now, Kidman has evolved to a fully black look, reaching a sort of new moon in her cycle of Met Gala outfits.

Kidman’s first appearance at the Met Gala dates all the way back to 2003. Clearly, she still knows how to make the carpet completely her own.
