Michelle and Barack Obama Shut Down Divorce Rumors Once and For All

The couple sat down together for a new episode of Michelle’s “IMO” podcast, which she hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson.

“Wait, you guys like each other?” Robinson joked as the former United States president appeared in the room to support his wife and chat away those pesky rumors.

During the conversation, Robinson brought up the conversations that have been circling around this year alleging that the Obamas are heading toward divorce—claims which began when Michelle decided not to accompany her husband to several political events, including Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s 2025 presidential inauguration.

When reminded by Robinson about the split rumors, Barack, of course, made a joke. “She took me back!” he said, with a smile, of his wife of 33 years. “It was touch and go for a while.”

Michelle warned her husband not to “start” before agreeing with Robinson that it was “nice to [be] in the same room.” She added, “When we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.”

While the couple at first addressed the rumors with humor, Michelle later took a moment to entirely shut down the false narrative. “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I have thought about quitting my man,” she said. “We’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I’ve become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
