Eric Dane of Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria fame recently revealed a surprising silver lining to his recent ALS diagnosis. The actor spoke with Diane Sawyer in a Good Morning America interview that aired Monday.
Dane became emotional while discussing his reconciliation with Rebecca Gayheart, who he married in 2004. The Beverly Hills, 90210 star filed for divorce in February 2018, though as of March 2025, she's requested to dismiss the filing.

"I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day," Dane shared. "We have managed to become better friends and better parents. And she is probably my biggest champion, my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her."
After meeting in 2003, Dane and Gayheart tied the knot in Las Vegas less than a year later. They have two daughters together: Billie and Georgia, born in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Gayheart's 2018 divorce filing cited "irreconcilable differences," but didn't include a date of separation. She also requested joint legal and physical custody of both of the couple's daughters, as well as spousal support.
"After 14 years together we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family," Dane said in a statement to People at the time. "We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us."
In the same GMA interview, Dane gave an update on his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis, which he first discussed publicly in April.
“I wake up every day and I’m immediately reminded that this is happening,” he told Sawyer. “I don’t think this is the end of my story. I don’t feel like this is the end of me.”
