Prince George and Prince Louis’s Sweet Exchange at Trooping the Colour Decoded by Lipreaders
The bond between the two is evident.

The Gist
- Brothers Prince George and Prince Louis’s bond was on full display at Trooping the Colour on June 14.
- While at one point older brother George corrected Louis on the Buckingham Palace balcony, before they arrived there, the brothers had a sweet exchange in the carriage.
- A lip reader caught the exchange—which is further proof of the tightness between the two siblings.
The brothers Wales—Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7—stole the show at Trooping the Colour on June 14, and a lip reader has shared the conversation the brothers had in the carriage as they rode across from their mom Kate Middleton and their sister Princess Charlotte, 10.
Per Page Six, Louis apparently asked his older brother, “Should I wave?”—ironic, since later in the day George had to stop Louis from over eagerly waving to the crowds below from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

To Louis’s question, George apparently replied, “It’s up to you,” before mentioning that he couldn’t “believe how sunny” it was outside. (Quite a stark difference from 2024’s Trooping the Colour, where it was wet and rainy—which, in a great many ways, represented that year in the royal family. Bring on the sun!)
A lip reader then said Louis replied, “Let’s do it together.”

The brothers coordinated in matching navy suits and red ties, and went on to wave at onlookers assembled on the street, attempting to catch a glimpse of them. Across the carriage, Kate and Charlotte also matched in shades of aqua, and professional lip reader Nicola Hickling told Hello! that at one point Kate turned to her only daughter and said, “You will see lots of riders on horses today. Would you like to wave at the children as we pass? There’s lots of horses here—which is your favorite?”

The lip readers and body language experts come out in full force for events like Trooping the Colour (and we love it!), and body language expert Judi James told The Daily Mail, “There was a seismic change in royal body language signals on the balcony, with Louis suddenly morphing into the most visible and active royal—but for all the right reasons.”
“Instead of his usual playful activities, he appeared totally focused on the aircraft, only turning to his dad to show off his plane spotting skills, with the affirming nods from William suggesting his younger son is becoming a bit of an aircraft expert,” James continued. “It was also Louis lingering longer before going back in, to gaze down at the crowds and to keep up the increasingly royal-looking waves longer than the rest of the Firm.”

Louis, according to a source speaking to People, is “a cheeky monkey—a typical third child,” while George, a close family friend told People, is “a cracking lad.”
After the day’s festivities concluded, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a surprise photo to their Instagram, writing alongside it, “Another brilliant day at Trooping the Colour for His Majesty’s Birthday Parade. Thank you to everybody who came, and to all those that took part.”
