Princess Charlotte Breaks Tradition to Twin With Mom Kate Middleton at Trooping the Colour
Charlotte has been described as her mother’s “mini-me.”

The Gist
- Siblings Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis typically coordinate their looks at Trooping the Colour—but Charlotte broke tradition on June 14 to twin with her mother, Kate Middleton, in aquamarine.
- Charlotte has been described as Kate’s “mini-me,” and the mother-daughter duo have coordinated looks before, like at King Charles’ 2023 coronation.
- Charlotte just marked her milestone 10th birthday last month on May 2.
Kate Middleton and her only daughter Princess Charlotte rode on the same side of the carriage in the Trooping the Colour parade on June 14—and twinned, as they’re known to do, in matching aquamarine style moments.

The Princess of Wales wore an aquamarine and ivory Catherine Walker coatdress—a departure from Alexander McQueen, the brand she typically wears for the annual public birthday celebration of the monarch, held annually every June. She paired the look with a hat from Juliette Botterill Millinery and a pair of Queen Elizabeth’s heirloom earrings. Charlotte, for her part, matched her mother in an aqua dress of her own. While Charlotte typically coordinates with her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis for events like Trooping the Colour, she broke tradition today to match with her mom.

While riding in the carriage alongside one another—with George and Louis seated opposite them—the two chatted, smiled at one another, and even at one point bowed their heads in respect perfectly in sync as they rode by cheering crowds.

The mother-daughter bond is strong when it comes to Kate and Charlotte, and it extends beyond matching looks: according to a palace source speaking to People, Charlotte is “a bit of a mini-me” when it comes to her mother.
“She’s clearly sporty like her mother,” the source added. Charlotte loves ballet, tap, rugby, and soccer, where the newly minted 10-year-old is known for her “grace and sportsmanship—often seen congratulating players on the opposing team,” the source told People.

In addition to channeling her mother, Charlotte also has glimmers of her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Like Her late Majesty, Charlotte is “a natural and has taken to royal events like a duck to water,” a source said, calling Charlotte “quite a strong character” and “almost wise beyond her years.”
