Tottenham trigger Morgan Gibbs-White release clause

We said this was accelerating, but this deal is now reaching warp speed!

According to a variety of reputable sources, Spurs have triggered Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause after being in direct contact with Nottingham Forest today.

He will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours and will join Mohammed Kudus as another high-profile attacking reinforcement for Thomas Frank.

Tottenham accelerating pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham have are accelerating talks with Nottingham Forest over a possible £60m move for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Gibbs-White was integral to Forest’s unlikely European push last season, scoring seven goals and notching eight assists in 34 Premier League games.

He has attracted interest from a number of England's top sides in recent months, amongst them were said to be Manchester City, but it’s Spurs who have stepped-up their efforts to sign the midfielder, according to BBC Sport.

How Kyle Walker and Burnley can make unlikely marriage a success

It was, Kyle Walker said, “an opportunity I jumped at”. Two years ago, the scramble for his services was between Manchester City and Bayern Munich, a contest that meant a 33-year-old got a three-year deal. And so, had everything gone to either of his plans, he would now be planning for a final season at either the Etihad Stadium or the Allianz Arena.

Instead, the opportunity he grasped was to go to Burnley. One interpretation is to say that it is a sign of how far and how fast the mighty have fallen: a year ago, Walker played in the final of Euro 2024 and was (somehow) named in the team of the tournament. This season, he may have thought, would have ended with him captaining City to the Premier League or Champions League titles; perhaps even the Club World Cup.

Rather than the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, however, Walker is at the homelier confines of Turf Moor. He was not even named in the City squad that Pep Guardiola took to the United States.

Real Madrid line up ex-Man Utd youth player

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for Benfica defender Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, who moved to the Portuguese club from Manchester United in 2024.

Romano, who references a report from Spanish outlet Marca, says that the deal will advance after the Club World Cup, with personal terms having been agreed.

Clubs lining up for Man City's James McAtee

Sky Sports News suggests that multiple clubs are interested in Manchester City’s James McAtee, who recently captained England U21s to a defence of their European Championship title.

The 22-year-old has a year left on his contract and would be another academy product to earn City a significant fee should he depart, in the manner of Cole Palmer.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are believed to be circling, while Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly also expressed their interest.

Celtic are reportedly considering a move for for towering Dutch defender Justin de Haas, according to Record.

The 25-year-old plays for Portuguese top flight side Famalicão, and the Scottish side have mooted a £3m fee, according to reports.

Roma reportedly interested in West Ham's Mavropanos

Sky Italy report that Roma are keen on West Ham and Greece defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The 27-year-old joined West Ham from Stuttgart two years ago and has three years left on his deal.

Leeds table bid for Sean Longstaff as Newcastle contemplate sale of homegrown midfielder

The promoted club are willing to pay an initial £10m, plus a potential £2m in add-ons, for the 27-year-old.

Longstaff has entered the last year of his contract at Newcastle and they risk losing him on a free transfer if they do not sell him this summer.

But Sky Sports News reported that that £12m bid has been rejected, leaving Leeds weighing up their options.

Brighton and Villa eyeing Joao Palhinha

Former Fulham man Joao Palhinha could be set for a Premier League return after falling out of favour at Bayern Munich, according to Bild.

Brighton and Aston Villa have contacted Bayern to explore the possibility of signing Palhinha.

The Portuguese international midfielder is said to be keen on the idea of returning to England after recognising that game-time will be limited in Munich.

Celtic close in on Shin Yamada

Sky Sports News reports that Celtic are close to a deal worth £1.5m for Japan international Shin Yamada.

The striker, who currently plays for Japanese top-flight club Kawasaki Frontale, is currently in action in South Korea playing in the E-1 Championship.

The 25-year-old is reportedly set to travel to the UK at the end of the tournament, with Japan’s last fixture on 15 July, to complete a medical and finalise the deal.

If Celtic secure the move, he would follow teammate and fellow Japan international Kota Takai in moving to the UK, after Tottenham signed the defender earlier this week.

Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran joins new club after just six months in Saudi Arabia

In case you missed it... Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has agreed a loan move to Fenerbahce just six months after joining Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Duran, who has scored three goals in 17 appearances for the Colombian national side, headed to Saudi Arabia in a deal worth £71m in January, but will relocate again to Istanbul to link up with Jose Mourinho’s side.

Everton want John McGinn

Aston Villa captain John McGinn may be on the move, with Everton circling.

The Toffees have shown an interest in midfielder McGinn, according to The Athletic, although Unai Emery is keen to keep the Scotland international at Villa Park.

McGinn’s current deal expires in 2027 and he is a key cog at the heart of the Villa midfield, having made almost 50 appearances for the club last season.

New Rangers boss Russell Martin coy on Jamie Vardy links

Russell Martin has refused to be drawn on reports linking Rangers with a move for former England and Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.

The 38-year-old forward, who has seen a move to Genoa fall through, has now been heavily touted for a switch to Ibrox after leaving the Foxes at the end of last season.

Recently appointed Rangers boss Martin remained coy but refused to dismiss the prospect, when asked after his side's 2-2 pre-season friendly draw at home to Club Brugge on Sunday if Vardy was a target.

"I think I've been asked about so many players," he said. "Some miles away, some on the money. So basically, I'm not going to give you an answer on that.

"But I guess you'll find out who's real and who's not in the next few weeks."

Everton eye Bournemouth goalkeeper

Everton are interested in Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers as a back-up to Jordan Pickford.

Sky Sports News report that David Moyes is a big fan of the Ireland international and wants him to replace the departing Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia.

Travers spent last season on loan with Championship side Middlesbrough and a number of second-tier sides have also expressed an interest in the 26-year-old. He has two years left on his current deal.

Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney reported yesterday that Arsenal have reached an impasse with Sporting Lisbon over Viktor Gyokeres, offering €65m, with potential performance-related add-ons, while Sporting want €70m guaranteed.

“The situation mirrors Arsenal's earlier pursuit of Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko in how neither club are budging,” Miguel writes. “Those talks have temporarily paused over a difference of €10m.

“There is a significant difference with the pursuit of Sesko, however. The desire of the Gyokeres camp to leave has created tension and made it much more difficult for Sporting to keep him.

“Club president Frederico Varandas has been irritated by how the situation has been conducted - if not necessarily by the player himself - especially since Sporting have let it be known they won't stand in his way.”

‘Extraordinary’ Luka Modric to join AC Milan after leaving Real Madrid

Real Madrid's Luka Modric will join AC Milan after the Club World Cup, the Serie A club's newly-appointed manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed.

The move means the 39-year-old midfielder, who announced in May that he would be leaving Madrid after the Club World Cup, will bring his 13-year spell at the Spanish giants to a close.

"Modric will arrive in August. He is an extraordinary player," Allegri said in his first press conference as Milan manager.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, available on a free transfer, feels a difficult commodity to figure out, an experienced Premier League centre forward sure to have suitors yet worries over injuries and inconsistency understandable after the striker left Everton.

DONE DEAL: Tottenham agree £55m fee with West Ham to sign Mohammed Kudus

Kudus, 24, is now set to leave the London Stadium after two years at the club, with a medical in the pipeline ahead of penning a long-term deal.

Spurs reportedly had an initial £50m bid rejected from the Hammers but were able to find an agreement in the days that followed.

Kudus has an £85m release clause in his contract but West Ham have agreed to let him go for less, with the Ghana international goalscoring exploits dropping off slightly last term when compared to his debut season.

Manchester United sign 'exciting' young forward

Manchester United have signed 18-year-old Enzo Kana-Biyik, who plays in the French youth setup and scored nine goals in 18 games for Le Havre's Under-19s team.

He will immediately go on loan to Swiss top-flight side Lausanne-Sport.

Jordan Henderson leaves Ajax in bid to earn England World Cup place

A club statement read: “The club has cooperated with the player's request to terminate the current employment contract. The Englishman's contract with Ajax ran until June 30, 2026, but now ends immediately.”

The former Liverpool captain opted not to trigger a 12-month extension with the Dutch club as he tries to earn a place in the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Henderson, who has won 84 caps, was recalled to the England squad by new manager Thomas Tuchel and started last month’s win over Andorra.

The midfielder joined Ajax in January 2024 after terminating his contract with Saudi Arabia Pro-League side Al-Ettifaq.

Man United have signed Enzo Kana-Biyik with the talented young forward set to go on loan to Lausanne-Sport.

The France youth international hit nine goals in 18 games for Le Havre's Under-19s team, leading to two appearances on the substitutes’ bench.

Napoli turn down Galatasaray bid for Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli and the Turkish club would very much like to make the forward a permanent employee. The Serie A champions have rejected an offer of €60m (£52m), Sky Sports Italia believe, for a player who has a release clause of €75m (£65m).

Forest target Bakayoko & Fofana as Elanga replacements

According to Sky, Nottingham Forest are interested in both Johan Bakayoko of PSV and Malick Fofana of Lyon as they look to replace the outgoing Anthony Elanga.

Several clubs in Europe are interested in both players, with PSV likely holding out for £30m for Bakayoko, while Lyon could be forced into selling Fofana for a cut price after their recent financial perils - The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reported last week that a bidding war may be brewing for him.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract after the clubs agreed a fee understood to be in the region of £19.5million.

Talbi arrived on Wearside on Tuesday and has completed a medical to join fellow new additions Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki as Regis Le Bris prepares for life back in the top flight.

The France Under-21 international has signed a four-year deal and becomes Everton’s second signing of the summer, after Charly Alcaraz, with the largest fee they have paid since Amadou Onana’s arrival in 2022.

Barry comes in as a replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who left on a free transfer, while with the end of Armando Broja’s loan spell, Everton had lost two strikers since the end of last season.

Napoli return for £45m-rated Garnacho as Man United begin clearout

Napoli have renewed their interest in Manchester United and Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The Mirror claims that the Italian side would hope to sign the player for £45m, which would appear a respectable fee for a player than is keen to leave Old Trafford.

And with Bryan Mbeumo poised to join the Red Devils, Garnacho’s exit could facilitate that move and more to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad.
