The Reds are after a top-class centre-forward as their next transfer priority, and are reportedly set to spend big.

Sheringham: Rashford does not deserve Barcelona

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has criticised Marcus Rashford‘s outspoken desire to leave Old Trafford, and says the forward does not “deserve” his dream move to Barcelona.

The Catalan club is Rashford’s preferred destination this summer and are currently in pole position to facilitate his exit from Manchester, having held talks with the England international’s camp.

Rashford also lost his No10 shirt to new United signing Matheus Cunha in recent weeks and has been training away from the first-team squad alongside a group of fellow exit-bound stars.

“If you assess where Marcus Rashford is at as a professional footballer, you strive as a youngster to get to the very top and play for clubs like Manchester United, and when you’re there, you appreciate it - you don’t throw it away and say you want to leave,” Sheringham said.

“From my perspective, if you go from Manchester United to Barcelona, that’s a step up he hasn’t deserved.”

A report in the Manchester Evening News details that United have now begun offering out academy players for next-to-nothing as they try to balance the books.

It claims that United have put together a list of players over the age of 18 that they believe will not make the jump to the first-team squad, and as such, have looked into finding new clubs for them.

The club are said to be looking to offload their academy graduates for very small transfer fees - or nothing at all - but with high sell-on clauses in case the players in question go on to become a success elsewhere.

United have started to see the benefits of inserting such clauses in recent deals, having received a windfall in the region of £20million already this summer from the transfers of Anthony Elanga, Maxi Oyedele, and Alvaro Carreras plus Chelsea’s refusal to keep Jadon Sancho after his loan.

Man Utd lead Everton in Douglas Luiz race

Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to become Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz’s next landing spot.

The Brazilian, who left Aston Villa for Juve last summer after five seasons in the Midlands, no longer appears to be part of Igor Tudor’s plans in Turin.

Everton are understood to be keen on bringing the 27-year-old back to the Premier League, with West Ham also said to be monitoring the situation.

But according to Football Insider, it’s United who are currently leading the race to do so.

The Red Devils are reportedly preparing to discuss a loan deal with Juventus, with a view to a permanent transfer - with the latter being preferred by the Serie A club.

The 33-year-old German has been at Barca for over a decade and was their outright No1 for much of that time.

He was named club captain at the start of last season before missing most of the campaign through injury and has now fallen down the pecking order under manager Hansi Flick, particularly after the signing of Joan García from Espanyol earlier this summer.

Despite the player reportedly being keen to stay where he is, Barca are understood to have told Ter Stegen - who has been training alone during pre-season - that he can leave.

And with Ederson out of contract at City next summer and currently receiving offers from the likes of Galatasaray, Pep Guardiola’s side may be eyeing a change between the sticks, if Spanish outlet Diario AS is to be believed.

Newcastle and Brighton consider £50m-rated Antony

Manchester United reportedly want €58 million (£50m) for out-of-favour winger Antony, who is attracting interest from clubs including Newcastle and Brighton.

The Brazilian, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis but remains on United’s books, signed for the Red Devils for €95m (£82m) in 2022.

Both the Magpies and the Seagulls are said to be interested in his services, according to Brazilian news outlet UOL, with Bundesliga duo Bayern Leverkusen and RB Leipzig among his other potential suitors.

Bellingham out for three months after surgery

The Real Madrid midfielder dislocated his left shoulder back in November 2023 against Rayo Vallecano, and that ruled him out for four games.

However, he returned to the side and has played through the pain barrier with strapping over the injury ever since as he went on to lift the Champions League in 2024 and feature for England at the European Championships, where they were beaten by Spain in the final.

Bellingham is thought to be out until at least October, meaning he is due to miss seven league games in that time, including a Madrid derby against Atletico on September 28.

He is also set to be sidelined for England’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. The Three Lions face Wales in a friendly on October 9.

Three Premier League sides eye Garnacho

Unai Emery’s side are reportedly eyeing the 21-year-old winger, with Chelsea and Tottenham also understood to be among his potential suitors.

Spanish defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu looks set to be released by Barcelona, with the Catalan Giants reportedly ready to terminate his contract.

The 33-year-old, who made over 200 appearances for Southampton between 2015 and 2022, joined Barca - where he previously spent four years as a youth player - from Girona on a three-year deal in 2023.

Jhon Duran has missed the first day of pre-season training at Fenerbahce - and Jose Mourinho isn’t pleased.

Forest have turned to Ramsey amid a potential legal battle with Spurs, who they claim were never granted permission to speak to Gibbs-White when triggering the release clause in his contract.

Gibbs-White was due to undergo a medical at Spurs last week but Forest have halted the deal, forcing the player to return to pre-season training this week.

It remains to be seen if Gibbs-White will be granted the move he is determined to complete, but Forest are now exploring the market for a player who plays in his position.

The Telegraph report that Forest's key summer target is now Aston Villa's Ramsey, who can play in Gibbs-White's No10 role and wide on the left.

Graham Potter eyes City man

West Ham are reportedly interested in a move for Jack Grealish.

The Man City fallen star has been told by Pep Guardiola to seek out a new challenge after he dropped down the pecking order this season.

According to TBR Football, West Ham have contacted City to enquire about the player’s availability. He has drawn interest from a variety of suitors, including Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and AC Milan.

Grealish, 29, was left out of City’s Club World Cup squad so as to find a move, with the club ready to take a considerable loss on their original investment to get him and his wages off the books.

Aston Villa look to United for Rashford replacement

Aston Villa could do more business with Man United as they look to replace Marcus Rashford after his loan spell came to an end.

According to Ben Jacobs, they are interested in bringing Alejandro Garnacho to Birmingham.

Garnacho is among the various United players to have been stuck in the shop window this summer, and is set to be left out of the squad for the club’s preseason tour.

Chelsea are also thought to hold an interest in the player. United are reportedly hoping to pocket £70m from any deal.

Moyes eyes Soucek reunion

David Moyes is looking to reunite with Tomas Soucek at Everton, with a bid imminent.

He managed the Czech midfielder at West Ham, with the pair winning the Conference League together in 2023.

With Everton crying out for depth and starting firepower in a number of positions, Moyes could look to reacquaint Soucek to his system.

West Ham are not thought to be interested in selling, but Everton are set to lodge a £12m bid.

United set for academy fire sale

Manchester United are set to sell off large swathes of their academy players in an attempt to balance the profit and sustainability books.

According to reports in the Manchester Evening News, a list of players, all over the age of 18, has been compiled and offered around to other clubs.

The list includes some players who were signed for considerable fees. The move has also caused upset with some players’ families and representation, who say they were not consulted - a claim which United refute.

United are said to have ‘renewed’ their approach to the academy following the introduction of financial fair play laws, which view the sales of academy products as pure profit. The academy setup has also been shaken up after Academy Director Nick Cox upped sticks to become Everton’s Technical Director.

No plans for Nico O'Reilly to leave City

Manchester City do not want Nico O’Reilly to leave the club this summer.

The player had reportedly drawn interest from the likes of Chelsea, who have recently made a habit of signing City academy graduates of late, adding Liam Delap, Romeo Lavia, and Cole Palmer.

But Pep Guardiola is said to be ‘very happy’ with the player, according to The Times, and has no plans to let him leave.

Leeds look to Bundesliga reinforcements

Leeds are ‘pressing ahead’ with a move for Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach.

The 26-year-old is available for £17.4m, according to reports from Sky Germany, and has two years remaining on his contract.

He would join alongside Sean Longstaff as the club look to bolster their midfield options after securing promotion to the Premier League.

Ashley Young to return to Watford?

Watford are reportedly exploring a move for veteran full-back Ashley Young.

The 40-year-old is available on a free transfer after his Everton contract expired last month.

Sean Longstaff has been authorised to undergo a medical with Leeds ahead of completing a £12m move.

Fabrizio Romano reports that he agreed to the project in June. The 27-year-old has played for Newcastle since joining their academy in 2006, spending time on loan with Kilmarnock and Blackpool.

More information has emerged on Omari Hutchinson’s proposed move away from Ipswich Town.

Standard Sport understands that Ipswich Town want a fee close to £40 million for Brentford target Omari Hutchinson.

Brentford met the winger’s £35m relegation clause on Tuesday but failed to meet the club’s structure, with Ipswich rebuffing multiple approaches.

The clause, which expired at 5pm yesterday, required one upfront payment, but Brentford offered to send it in three separate instalments over multiple years.

Ipswich would like a fee towards the £40m mark, but Brentford feel he is available at around the £35m mark in his contract clause.

Ipswich have no intention to sell a player they bought for a fee in excess of £20m last summer, so the club would have to turn a sizeable profit if they were to sanction a move.

He has also drawn interest from Leeds and Sunderland, though he is ‘wary’ of being involved in another relegation battle next season.

Palmeiras to spend Club World Cup prize money on Richarlison

Richarlison, now 28, joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 but has struggled to live up to his £50million price tag, tallying just 30 goal contributions in 90 appearances.

He could now be set for a change of scenery, with Brazilian outfit Palmeiras looking to offer him a homecoming. According to reports from Brazilian outlet Terra, the Verdao opened talks with the Lilywhites this week.

Negotiations are being personally led by club president Leila Pereira, who has been quoted a £55m price tag for the forward. She has also directly contacted the player to try to convince him of the move.

Palmeiras are thought to have pocketed £29.1m worth of prize money after reaching the Club World Cup quarter-finals.

Brentford bids for Hutchinson rejected

Brentford face a fight to sign Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson after the £35million relegation clause in his contract expired on Tuesday.

Hutchinson had the clause inserted in his contract last summer when he joined Ipswich from Chelsea as part of a deal worth over £20m.

The clause, however, was only valid until 5pm on Tuesday afternoon, and it has now expired without being activated.

Standard Sport understands that Ipswich received multiple approaches from Brentford on Tuesday prior to the deadline, but they failed to meet the terms of the clause.

The deadline has passed and Ipswich believe they are in a strong position should Brentford return with a new approach later this summer.

Arsenal are set to announce Noni Madueke shortly after the player today signed a five-year deal.

The Chelsea winger will join for a reported fee of £52m. He scored seven goals and assisted three in 32 Premier League appearances last season.

Strasbourg set to take on Chelsea pair

Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg are set to take on two rising Blues stars on loan.

They are said to be closing in on a deal for 19-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders, after which they will turn their attention to Kendry Paez.

Paez, 17, signed in June 2023 for a reported £17.27million, and will join up with Chelsea this summer.

Alexander Isak: Liverpool transfer plan emerges 'as £150m Newcastle star encourages bid'

Liverpool could sell three first-team stars to raise funds for a record-smashing bid for Alexander Isak, who is ready to leave Newcastle.

Widely reported on Tuesday, the Premier League champions have confirmed with Newcastle their interest in signing Isak as they look to discuss a deal for around £120million. That would top the £116m deal which saw Florian Wirtz move to Anfield earlier this summer.

Newcastle immediately responded by telling Liverpool that Isak is not for sale amid their own attempts to lure Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, who the Reds are ready to turn to if the Magpies stand firm.

The Telegraph have previously reported that Newcastle have slapped a £150m price tag on Isak's head, which would comfortably be the most expensive British transfer of all time.

The same outlet reported on Tuesday that the club believe Liverpool's public courting of Isak is an attempt to unsettle the striker. It is also suggested - as is the case with the subject of many transfers - that Liverpool will have been encouraged to make the approach. Question marks have now been raised over Isak's reaction to the potential move.

Nwaneri agrees four-year Arsenal extension

Ethan Nwaneri is set to sign a new four-year contract at Arsenal.

BBC Sport report that an agreement has now been reached between all parties, and the Gunners are expected to hold the option of at least one further year.

Brentford have triggered the £35million release clause in Omari Hutchinson’s Ipswich contract.

The Mail report that the Bees want the former Arsenal and Chelsea youth star to replace Bryan Mbeumo, who remains a target for Manchester United despite two rejected bids.

Hutchinson’s release clause - in place after Ipswich’s relegation from the Chmpionship - is set to expire so Brenford have moved quickly.

Liverpool consider shock Rashford deal

Who could Liverpool turn if if that fail to sign Alexander Isak? Marcus Rashford, the Mail claims.

The Reds are dreaming on landing the Newcastle striker, who could cost £150million, but have drawn of a list of alternatives, which include Hugo Ekitike, Ollie Watkins, Victor Osimhen, Yoane Wissa, Rodrygo and Rashford.

Arne Slot's desire to bring in a new forward is bid, though surely a move for Rashford is deeply unlikely.

Rashford is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, with Barcelona reportedly his desired destination.

Liverpool have rejected Bayern Munich’s bid for Luis Diaz, worth €67.5m (£58.6m).

The German giants were earlier in the summer told in no uncertain terms that Diaz was not for sale, but have returned with a fresh offer report The Athletic.

Liverpool reportedly value Diaz at €100m (£86.8m) but have also told interested clubs that the player is not for sale.

However, Diaz has other ideas and is now keen to leave the club.

It was a quickfire reply from Newcastle to Liverpool.

Arsenal’s priority after completing their deal for Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly to bring in an attacking midfielder, and Eberechi Eze remains top of that list.

Sporting reject Arsenal's latest Gyokeres offer

Arsenal's move for Viktor Gyokeres has hit a snag.

According to reports in Portugal this morning, there is a ‘profound disagreement’ between the Gunners and Sporting over the €10m add-ons.

As previously reported by Standard Sport, Arsenal have agreed a dea worth an initial €63.5m (£54.86m), with a further €10m (£8.64m) in add-ons.

However, Sporting want those add-ons to be realistic, and both O Jogo and A Bola report that just €3m are. Other reports claim €5m are reasonable.

Sporting have rejected Arsenal's latest proposal, so there is still some negotiating to do.

Juventus are nearing the signing of Francisco Conceicao from Porto.

The Portuguese international spent last season on loan at the Old Lady, and the Serie A side have now moved to trigger his €30m release clause, according to Sky Italia.

Ben Jacobs reported that Everton were keen on sigining Conceicao, but the winger wants to remain at Juve.

Barrenchea set for Benfica

Enzo Barrenchea will join Benfica from Aston Villa, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentine midfielder moved to Villa from Juventus as part of the deal that saw Douglas Luiz go the other way to Turin, but he has failed to gain regular game-time at Villa Park, and found himself on loan at Valencia last season.

Now, he will be leaving the Birmingham side on loan again initially, although there is a €15m obligation to buy in that deal.
