Madueke signs for Arsenal

Arsenal and Chelsea have agreed a deal for winger Noni Madueke.

The fee is £48m and Madueke will sign a five-year contract which runs until June 2030.

Olivia Smith signs for Arsenal to become first £1m player in women’s football

Arsenal have broken the world transfer record by signing Liverpool for forward Olivia Smith, making the 20-year-old the first £1m transfer in women’s football.

It is understood the Gunners beat competition from several clubs - including Women’s Super League champions Chelsea - to sign the 20-year-old Canada international, who arrives on an undisclosed seven-figure-fee.

It comes 46 years after Trevor Francis became the first male player to break the £1m barrier when he moved from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest in 1979.

Chelsea update

Several fringe squad members are up for sale at Chelsea, with Noni Madueke soon to leave.

Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Lesley Ugochukwu, Renato Veiga, Armando Broja, Alfie Gilchrist, Carney Chukwuemeka and Raheem Sterling are all free to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with interest in Chukwuemeka and Veiga from Dortmund.

Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Christopher Nkunku and even full-back Malo Gusto, while striker Nicolas Jackson could also leave and has reportedly been targeted by AC Milan, while even Man Utd could be considering the Senegal man.

Liverpool advancing on Ekitike deal

Liverpool are now advancing in talks to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to David Ornstein.

The fee will be “in excess of €80m”, and Ekitike wants the move so personal terms won’t be an issue.

Man City star tops Everton’s ambitious £200m summer transfer plans

Manchester City’s James McAtee heads a list of ambitious summer plans for Everton, who can spend up to £200m under the new Friedkin ownership.

David Moyes wants a right-back, a number-six, a number-eight and a right-winger, having already secured Mark Travers as goalkeeper on a £4m deal from Bournemouth.

Other options for Everton are Juventus' Douglas Luiz, Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche and Freiburg's Merlin Rohl in midfield, Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo on the right, and Panathinaikos' Georgios Vagiannidis for right-back.

Sporting are nevertheless expected to push ahead on the latter, and are currently seen as favourites to sign the Greek international.

Such an outlay would represent a considerable statement from Everton ahead of the move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, after years of frustration, financial stretch and uncertainty.

Inter in for Lookman?

According to reports in Italy, Ademola Lookman could be on the verge of a move to Inter Milan, with the Nerazzurri having reached an agreement with the Nigeria forward on personal terms.

Gianluca di Marzio says that Inter a ready to bid €40m for the ex-Fulham man.

Newcastle cool Ekitike interest and move to Wissa

David Ornstein is reporting that Newcastle United have ‘cooled’ their interest in Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, and are instead weighing up a move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

Clubs were quite £50m for the Congo international last summer.

But Wissa is thought to prefer a move to Spurs, it has been reported elsewhere.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

The move consists of £65m in guaranteed fees and up to £6m in add-ons, according to David Ornstein, who adds that the deal is now being finalised.

Arsenal still chasing Eze despite Madueke interest

Arsenal are still interested in Eberechi Eze, with Mikel Arteta keen on the Palace playmaker. The club are set to approach Palace over a deal soon.

The 27-year-old has a £68m release clause, though Arsenal are expected to try and negotiate a deal at a lower price point.

Eze, who scored eight goals and got eight assists for the Eagles in the Premier League last season, is not believed to be deterred by Arsenal’s move for Noni Madueke.

McAtee considering his next move

Manchester City youngster James McAtee is said to be a target for several clubs across England and Germany, and Fabrizio Romano is reported that the England U21 international was visiting Eintracht Frankfurt yesterday.

The 22-year-old is free to leave City this summer, with the club said to be demanding around £40m.

Romano adds that McAtee is “assessing his options” ahead of a move this summer, with other reports claiming he will be visiting Borussia Dortmund during his trip to Germany.

Sunderland eye bold Xhaka move

Sunderland have initiated talks over a bold move for Bayer Leverkusen and Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Sky Sports reports that the Black Cats are keen to add the 32-year-old midfielder, with his Premier League experience, from his time at Arsenal, coveted.

Xhaka will also have options in Saudi Arabia, adds Sky Sports, with his future away from the Bundesliga club.

Villa one of three Premier League clubs monitoring Garnacho

In addition to Chelsea, Aston Villa have been linked with Manchester United and Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho,

The Mail reports that the 21-year-old could move to Villa, as did his teammate, for the time being, Marcus Rashford, last term on loan.

Rashford has returned and is destined to move abroad, with links to Barcelona and Juventus.

The Mail add Chelsea and Tottenham are also monitoring Garnacho.

Alexander Isak and the difficult choice Newcastle must make

Newcastle have already bought Anthony Elanga for £52m this summer. Their pursuit of goalkeeper James Trafford has continued. They offered a club-record sum of £70m for Hugo Ekitike, which Eintracht Frankfurt declined. Sell Alexander Isak and, together with Newcastle’s existing budget, there would presumably be scope to afford Ekitike, for a raised bid, a back-up striker, Trafford and the right-sided centre-back that has long been on the agenda.

German paper Bild reports that Newcastle are considering Victor Osimhen and Darwin Núñez after missing out on a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike.

While the club are hoping to keep Alexander Isak this summer, their previous pursuit of Ekitike suggested that they may want a second striker to play alongside the Sweden international this season.

Osimhen has been the subject of plenty of interest so far this summer, but his wage demands are said to be very high.

Everton submit bid for Douglas Luiz

Everton have submitted a bid to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian left Aston Villa for Turin last summer but only made 19 league appearances in Serie A after struggling for form and fitness.

Now his former club Villa are reported to want him back, according to Teamtalk, while West Ham are also interested in the 27-year-old.

But Everton appear to be in the driving seat among the Premier League clubs giving pursuit after putting in an offer thought to be worth around £30m.

Wissa prefers Spurs?

Yoane Wissa would prefer to stay in London with former manager Thomas Frank than join Newcastle United.

That’s according to TalkSport, which reports that the 28-year-old Congolese striker – who enjoyed the most prolific season of his career at Brentford in 2024/25 – could follow Bryan Mbeumo out the door this summer.

Mbeumo looks set to join Manchester United, and Wissa is wanted by both Spurs and Newcastle, but Tottenham appear to be the frontrunners, despite spending £60m on Dominic Solanke last summer.

The clause that could help Martinez to Man United

Emiliano Martinez is determined to make the switch from Aston Villa to Manchester United, and he could be in luck after in emerged there is a clause in his contract for a €25m transfer.

That’s according to Clarín, the biggest newspaper in Argentina, via SportWitness, which reports that Man Utd retain strong interest in the goalkeeper.

The clause would be for a full, up-front payment but United would be willing to pay more in order to spread payments out over installments.

The Premier League champions could make the French forward their fourth major summer signing if a deal can be agreed with the Bundesliga club. It is expected that Ekitike would want to make the switch to Anfield and that personal terms could be agreed with the 23-year-old.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player has a €100m (£86m) release clause though it is not yet apparent if Liverpool will trigger it or agree a lower price with Eintracht.

Liverpool concentrated their attentions on Hugo Ekitike after asking about Alexander Isak but Newcastle have long taken the view their top scorer is not for sale.

However, Liverpool’s approach for Ekitike could be a blow for the Carabao Cup winners, who had bid for him themselves in their attempts to strengthen their forward line.

Newcastle have reportedly turned to Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa instead as they look for a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left St James’ Park when his contract expired.

Liverpool handed key boost as Hugo Ekitike transfer enters advanced talks

Liverpool are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike.

The Premier League champions could make the French forward their fourth major summer signing if a deal can be agreed with the Bundesliga club. It is expected that Ekitike would want to make the switch to Anfield and that personal terms could be agreed with the 23-year-old.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player has a €100m (£86m) release clause though it is not yet apparent if Liverpool will trigger it or agree a lower price with Eintracht.

Sancho headed to Juve?

Juventus are still keen on signing Jadon Sancho, according to Sky, with talks having been started between Juve, United and Sancho’s representatives.

Juventus are currently finalising a permanent deal for Francisco Conceicao, for around £28m.

United value Sancho at £25m, though it is unknown if his wage demands could be an issue.

Jude Bellingham could be out until October after shoulder surgery

The Real Madrid and England midfielder had the surgery after his club’s elimination from this summer’s Club World Cup to treat a recurring dislocation of his left shoulder.

The surgery is set to sideline him until October, but the Spanish club did not confirm any length of absence, saying only that Bellingham would now “begin a period of rehabilitation prior to his return to recovery work”.

Real Madrid said the surgery had been performed by Drs Manuel Leyes and Andrew Wallace, under the supervision of the club’s Medical Services.

Alexander Isak and the difficult choice Newcastle must make

For Newcastle United, no news was good news. There was gossip, much of it tedious and tiresome, but no concrete developments when it came to Alexander Isak. They could reflect on Arsenal’s choice between Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko with some satisfaction: it is no secret that Isak has admirers at the Emirates Stadium but the Gunners accepted they could not get a forward who often scores against them.

The prospect, whether more of a possibility than a probability, of an offer from Liverpool would alter that. Any such bid would bring a decision that would define Newcastle’s summer; their season, too. For now, what can be said is that there has been no direct contact between the clubs. Newcastle’s stance has long been that Isak is not for sale, though Liverpool’s similar position when it comes to Luis Diaz has not stopped Bayern Munich from bidding for the Colombian.

Juventus have enquired about a potential deal to sign Marcus Rashford, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

United are said to want £40m for the winger, though it is unknown what sort of deal the Turin club would be seeking.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has hit a stumbling block after Brentford raised their valuation of the Cameroon forward towards £70m, according to reports.

Mbeumo, 25, has been the subject of prolonged interest from United and the club have seen two bids rejected by Brentford, with the latter worth £60m.

However, negotiations have not progressed since that second bid in late June, despite Mbeumo telling United that he wants to join, with figures at the club previously having thought that a package totalling £65m would be enough to secure a deal.

Brentford’s change of stance has been met with resistance from United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and director of football Jason Wilcox, who are said to value Mbeumo at that same £65m point, reports the Guardian.

Olivia Smith signs for Arsenal to become first £1m player in women’s football

Arsenal have broken the world transfer record by signing Liverpool for forward Olivia Smith, making the 20-year-old the first £1m transfer in women’s football.

It is understood the Gunners beat competition from several clubs - including Women’s Super League champions Chelsea - to sign the 20-year-old Canada international, who arrives on an undisclosed seven-figure-fee.

It comes 46 years after Trevor Francis became the first male player to break the £1m barrier when he moved from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest in 1979.

Sunderland have initiated talks over a bold move for Bayer Leverkusen and Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Sky Sports reports that the Black Cats are keen to add the 32-year-old midfielder, with his Premier League experience, from his time at Arsenal, coveted.

Xhaka will also have options in Saudi Arabia, adds Sky Sports, with his future away from the Bundesliga club.

Villa one of three Premier League clubs monitoring Garnacho

In addition to Chelsea, Aston Villa have been linked with Manchester United and Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho,

The Mail reports that the 21-year-old could move to Villa, as did his teammate, for the time being, Marcus Rashford, last term on loan.

Rashford has returned and is destined to move abroad, with links to Barcelona and Juventus.

Newcastle have already bought Anthony Elanga for £52m this summer. Their pursuit of goalkeeper James Trafford has continued. They offered a club-record sum of £70m for Hugo Ekitike, which Eintracht Frankfurt declined. Sell Alexander Isak and, together with Newcastle’s existing budget, there would presumably be scope to afford Ekitike, for a raised bid, a back-up striker, Trafford and the right-sided centre-back that has long been on the agenda.
