Howe voices frustrations

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe admitted his summer had not gone to plan after experiencing some frustration in the transfer market following the shock departure of sporting director Paul Mitchell.

News of Mitchell's departure came in late May while Howe was on holiday and immediately gave him added responsibilities.

Since then the Carabao Cup winners have only added winger Anthony Elanga to their first-team squad - Spain Under-19 international Antonio Cordero is expected to go out on loan after arriving from Malaga.

Newcastle appear to have lost a transfer battle with Liverpool who look set to finalise a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Howe said: "My wish was for us to do our business early and we certainly tried, but it wasn't to be.

"We've had a frustrating time in terms of losing targets to other clubs. I'd be very open with that. That's happened on several occasions.

"You just have to accept it. In order for a transfer to really work, in my opinion, the player has to be desperate to come to your club. If we don't get that, the transfer doesn't work.

"We're seeking players that are good enough, that are desperate to come, and that can make the difference that they're in short supply for us.

"We're confident that we can try and get some more players in to strengthen the depth of the squad. We're certainly aware that we need to and we're trying as hard as we can to do that."

Potter delighted with new West Ham signing

West Ham head coach Graham Potter has long admired Kyle Walker-Peters’ game and is relishing the opportunity to work with him.

He said: “He is a player I’ve always thought highly of and been impressed by whenever he has faced one of my teams.

“He has a really good pedigree, a top professional who has established himself as a respected Premier League player and still has his best years in front of him.

“He will bring high quality competition to the squad, and good character and personality to the dressing-room. I’m really looking forward to working with Kyle, and I think he will be a great addition to the football club.”

Man City have already earmarked a replacement for Ederson should the Brazilian join Galatasaray this summer.

Sky Sports claim City want to bring Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford back to the club.

Galatasaray make Ederson bid

Galatasaray have made an offer of £2.6m for Man City goalkeeper Ederson,

That is according to reports in France, whilst the Mirror claim the Brazilian has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Turkish champions.

This represents somewhat of a U-turn from Ederson as earlier in the summer he insisted he would be staying at the Etihad Stadium.

Sancho to join Juventus

Another Manchester United exit is on the cards.

According to reports, Jadon Sancho is closing in on a move to Juventus as they near a conclusion of talks with Man United.

Sancho’s future has been left in limbo after failing to secure a permanent move to Chelsea following a mixed loan spell in west London last season.

The versatile full-back is looking forward to linking up with his new teammates, getting down to work in pre-season.

Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo is reportedly deciding his future.

The Real Madrid star believes that he can still contribute at the club despite being played out of position on the right-wing due to the presence of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

West Ham have announced the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer.

The versatile full-back, who has two senior caps for the England international team, joins the Hammers on a three-year contract following his departure from Southampton.

The 28-year-old, who is comfortable on either side of the pitch, has made nearly 150 Premier League appearances so far in his career and will add quality and depth to head coach Graham Potter’s squad.

Ekitike to Liverpool imminent?

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller has all but confirmed Hugo Ekitike is set to join Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool, who have already signed Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez to bolster a Premier League title-winning squad, are expected to wrap up a deal for the France U21 international after an outline of an agreement was reached with the Bundesliga outfit.

According to the Athletic, the Reds have made an offer of £69m plus add-ons which means the total package of the deal could rise to £78m.

There appears to be a resignation from Frankfurt’s side that Ekitike will make the move to Anfield in the coming days after he was absent from the squad that lost a pre-season friendly to FSV Frankfurt on Saturday.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to rejoin Marseille.

The Gabonese striker spent last season with Saudi outfit Al Qadsiah, scoring 17 in 32 appearances. He joined the club from Marseille on a two-year deal, but terminated it after a single campaign.

He will return to Les Olympiens just a year on from leaving, and is expected to sign a two-year contract.

Arsenal may have taken a big step towards finally sealing a deal for Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners are closing in on their fifth signing of the summer transfer window as a deal for the Swedish striker worth an initial €63.5million (£54.86m) plus a further €10m (£8.64m) in add-ons is in place.

Though the hold up is reportedly due to a debate ongoing over the nature and structure of the bonuses included.

The Athletic reports that would represent a club-record sale for the German side, surpassing the €95million (£82.3m) Paris Saint-Germain spent on Randal Kolo Muani in 2023.

Daniel Farke has confirmed that Patrick Bamford is not in his plans for the coming Premier League season, meaning the former England striker could be set to leave the club.

The Leeds boss told the Daily Mail: “He knows how much I rate him as a person. I thought it was my duty to be very honest with him. I got him in my office and told him that he’s not in my plans for the upcoming Premier League season.

“For me, Patrick is a player who needs to be the main man. He needs an arm around the shoulder after difficult years. He will score goals, he is a top player, but I was not willing to do this.

“He should not be a backup option. It is not a perfect situation. That is why we had this honest conversation.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reached an agreement to return to former side Olympique de Marseille.

The Gabonese striker, formerly of Arsenal and Chelsea, left the Ligue 1 club for Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah last summer but elected to terminate the remainder of his two-year contract.

It means Aubameyang, 36, is set to return to Marseille on a free transfer, according to journalist Santi Aouna, who reports that the forward will pen a two-year contract with his former side - now coached by ex-Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and competing in next season’s Champions League after finishing second in the French top flight - despite reported interest from Premier League clubs and Saudi outfit Al Ettifaq.

Fenerbahce set for PSG double swoop

Fenerbahce are set to complete a double swoop for Paris Saint-Germain’s Milan Skriniar and Marco Asensio.

There are plans for the duo to complete medical checks and their official signing in Istanbul this week, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu among other reports.

Slovakian centre-back Skriniar, 30, spent the second half of last season on loan with Jose Mourinho’s side, while 29-year-old ex-Real Madrid man Asensio excelled with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa but was not signed on a permanent deal at the end of his own six-month loan.

Arsenal accidentally leak image of FIFTH summer signing

Arsenal have accidentally confirmed the signing of Cristhian Mosquera during the announcement of Noni Madueke's arrival.

The Gunners on Friday unveiled Madueke as their fourth summer signing, joining from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £52million. The winger follows Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard through the door as Mikel Arteta's summer spending soars past £200million.

And a fifth signing is not too far away. Thanks to the possible slip of a website editor's finger, Arsenal inadvertently unveiled Mosquera in an Arsenal kit. The image appears to have been uploaded by accident during a batch release of Madueke imagery.

The image, which has since been deleted from Getty Images, shows Mosquera being interviewed by a member of Arsenal staff, seemingly during his traditional welcome interview for fans.

After completing his £52million move to Arsenal, the pressure is on Noni Madueke to succeed.

When news of the Gunners’ interest first broke, it sparked a fierce backlash from some fans online that included the hashtag ‘#NoToMadueke’ and even a petition against the deal.

But those who know Madueke best are confident that he will thrive in north London. Chief among them is Saul Isaksson-Hurst, who has worked as Madueke’s individual coach for the past four years.

Maddison back in training but Kulusevski remains absent

James Maddison is in partial training ahead of Tottenham’s first preseason friendly as he continues his injury recovery, Thomas Frank has confirmed.

The midfielder missed the final weeks of last season, including the Europa League final, with a serious knee injury but did not require surgery.

Frank did not confirm when he expects Maddison to be available, but suggested he was further ahead in his recovery than Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin.

"Maddison is the closest one," Frank said. "He is part training with the team, so that's very positive. Obviously a key player.

"Dragusin and Kulusevski are a little bit further behind."

Madueke to miss preseason tour

Newly signed Arsenal winger Noni Madueke will not participate in the Gunners’ preseason tour of Asia, where they are set to face AC MIlan and Newcastle in Singapore before meeting Tottenham in Hong Kong.

This is due to his playing commitments at the Club World Cup, where he most recently played in Chelsea’s semi-final win over Fluminense just 10 days ago.

He will instead take some holiday time before joining up ahead of the Premier League campaign’s kick-off.

Jackson expected to stay at Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson is ‘very much expected’ to stay at Chelsea this summer, according to a fresh report in football.london.

There is tangible interest from a variety of clubs, including Aston Villa, Manchester United, and AC Milan, but few are expected to be willing to meet Chelsea’s £100m valuation.

The player is not considered untouchable - any player could leave for the right fee - but he is not necessarily for sale, either.

Jackson is facing more competition for minutes than ever this season after the Blues signed £80m worth of strikers in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, both of whom impressed at the Club World Cup.

Ademola Lookman eyes Inter switch

Ademola Lookman has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan today, according to Fabrizio Romano.

But there is still no agreement between clubs, as Atalanta hold out for a bid in the region of £34.6m.

The former Charlton, Everton, and Fulham forward has now spent three years with La Dea, but could trade one black-and-blue side for another this summer as Inter look to refresh their ageing squad under new manager Cistian Chivu.

Isak open to Saudi switch

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has reportedly ‘given the green light’ to talks with Al Hilal.

The Saudi Pro League side have opened negotiations with his representatives, according to reports in Foot Mercato.

The Magpies regard him as unsellable, and have already warded off keen interest from Liverpool, who are reportedly willing and able to spend £120m to lure him to Merseyside in what would be a British-record deal.

Frank says risk of sack drove his desire to join Spurs

Madueke confirms Chelsea departure

Noni Madueke has confirmed that he will leave Chelsea this summer, with his move to Arsenal set to be confirmed imminently.

The Briton signed with the Blues from Eindhoven in 2023, scoring 13 goals in 67 League appearances since.

But he is now set to sign for arch London rivals Arsenal in a deal understood by Standard Sport to be worth £52million.

He leaves Chelsea as a UEFA Conference League champion, but missed out on Club World Cup celebrations after leaving the Blues’ camp early to complete his Arsenal medical.

Addressing Chelsea Football Club, Madueke wrote on Instagram: “I want to thank you for the Last 3 or so years.

“To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you.

“To my teammates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys. We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best.”

DONE DEAL: Danilo completes Botafogo switch

Brazilian side Botafogo have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest’s Danilo in a deal worth £19m.

He has signed a four-year deal and returns to Brazil on a permanent basis just two years after joining the Midlands outfit from Palmeiras.

Cunha set for his debut?

Matheus Cunha is set to make his Manchester United debut this weekend after being named in the squad for Saturday’s friendly against Leeds.

Cunha is part of the 29-man squad for the game in Stockholm, which kicks off United’s pre-season before their tour to the US.

Fellow new signing Diego Leon is also part of the travelling party, who flew out on Friday, after arriving this summer from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno.

The squad does not include Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee, who have both stayed at home due to injury.

Manchester United have described their injuries as “small issues” and they are expected to join the squad for the tour to the US later this month.

Everton name City starlet atop transfer shortlist

Everton have named James McAtee as their top summer transfer target this summer.

So reports The Independent, who add that the Toffees are able to spend as much as £150m this summer after taking on new ownership.

David Moyes is said to be targeting a right-back, a No6, a No8, and a right winger.

The 2002-born McAtee can play either on the wing or in midfield, and thus could satisfy more than one of Moyes’ requirements.

The Independent’s report claims that Douglas Luiz, Maghnes Akliouche, and Merlin Rohl number among midfield targets, while Takefusa Kubo and Georgios Vagiannidis are also under consideration.

Mbeumo set for weekend medical

After weeks of deliberations, Mbeumo’s move to Man United now seems to be picking up steam.

The player is set to undergo a medical this weekend after an agreement was reached for a £71m transfer earlier today.

Standard Sport reported earlier that the deal hit a bump in the road after Brentford raised their asking price.

Chelsea unveil new scholarship class

Reggie Walsh and Thiago Silva’s son, Isago, are among the 16 Chelsea academy players to have signed as scholars ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Walsh, 16, signed for Chelsea as an under-eight, and is the only player in this intake to have appeared for the first team after he featured in the Conference League last season.

A versatile midfielder, he debuted off the bench in the semi-final first leg against Djurgarden, launching a threatening long-range strike with his first touch of the evening, before completing 90 minutes in the reverse fixture.

In doing so, he became the youngest Englishman ever to start in a European match.

Arsenal to seal Wright transfer

Arsenal are set to sign Salford striker Will Wright, writes Simon Collings.

The 17-year-old is expected to be part of the Gunners’ youth setup next season and has been earmarked as a player for the future.

Wright caught the eye at academy level before making his debut for Salford’s first team in League Two last season.

Arsenal are reportedly paying a fee of around £200,000, plus add-ons, for the striker and the deal is understood to be in its final stages.

A number of clubs are believed to have been tracking Wright ahead of this summer’s transfer window, including Premier League champions Liverpool.

Morgan Gibbs-White 'sets deadline' for Tottenham transfer

Morgan Gibbs-White wants to know where he will be playing his football next season before Nottingham Forest head to Portugal for pre-season training this weekend, according to reports.

The midfielder finds himself at the centre of a contentious transfer saga after Tottenham activated his £60million release clause earlier this week, prompting faced backlash from Forest.

The Midlands outfit are unhappy with Tottenham’s approach to Gibbs-White and claim Spurs were never granted permission to speak to him.

But according to the Daily Mail, Gibbs-White is now hoping to have his future set in stone by the end of the weekend, when Forest head to Portugal for a pre-season training camp, which will feature friendly meetings with Fulham and Estoril Praia.

Liverpool are to resume negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt today over a deal for Hugo Ekitike.

Sky Germany also state that personal terms are almost agreed with the striker, so all that remains is shaking hands over the transfer fee.

Man Utd agree Mbeumo deal

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

According to the Athletic, the deal between clubs struck at £65m guaranteed + up to £6m add-ons.

Mbeumo had been linked with moves to Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle, but he only wanted Man Utd and the move is now being finalised.

Liverpool hold Rodrygo talks

Liverpool have held preliminary talks with Real Madrid for Rodrygo.

The Brazilian looks set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after playing a bit-part role during the Club World Cup.

However, whilst a move to Arsenal - or even Paris Saint-Germain - appeared the most likely destination, it would seem that the Premier League champions have now entered the race.

According to talkSPORT, Rodrygo is considered a replacement for Luis Diaz if the Reds decide to sell the Colombian amid interest from Bayern Munich.

A week on from completing a £55m transfer, Anthony Elanga's shirt number at Newcastle has been revealed.

He will don No20 at St James' Park next season.

This shirt number was recently worn by Lewis Hall - who has taken the No3 - and previously by the likes of Chris Wood, Yoan Gouffran, Florian Thauvin and Remy Cabella.

Liverpool confirm signing

Liverpool Women have completed the signing of Freiburg goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe on a free transfer.

Borggrafe kept seven clean sheets in 19 league appearances for Freiburg last season and is excited about a new adventure.

She said: “This means a lot. This is a big club with a big history and I want to be part of that – we never walk alone.

"I want to have fun playing football and [I] am so happy to now be a part of the Liverpool family.

“I spent 12 years with Freiburg but I think this is the best step for me, to come to Liverpool.

“I’m happy – and a little bit sad to leave friends – but I want to get better and I think this is the best place for me to be here to work hard, get better and make the next big steps for my career.”

Gyokeres 'furious'

Viktor Gyokeres is furious with Sporting for stalling his move to Arsenal.

That is according to CNN Portugal who claim the striker even had his relatives clear out his house yesterday in an attempt to force his move to the Gunners.

As things stand there has been no official word on the two clubs reaching a final agreement over a transfer fee so Gyokeres just has to remain patient.

West Ham agree deal

West Ham are set to sign former England defender Kyle Walker-Peters, writes Simon Collings.

The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Southampton expired at the end of last season.

Besiktas had been in discussions with Walker-Peters, but they publicly pulled out of negotiations on Thursday after he delayed his medical following interest from the Hammers.

Talks with West Ham have progressed quickly and Walker-Peters is due to begin his medical on Friday, which will run into the weekend, before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Liverpool get Ekitike boost

Hugo Ekitike is said to have handed in a transfer request as he looks to secure a high-profile move to Liverpool, according to reports in Germany.

Ekitike is said to want to join Liverpool and it was believed that agreeing personal terms was not expected to be an issue.

German publication Sport Bild have since reported that the Frenchman has submitted a transfer request to help complete a switch to Anfield.

They add that Liverpool have even signalled to Frankfurt that they would be willing to pay their €100m (£86.6m) asking price, with an offer in that region now expected as the Bundesliga outfit target Franjo Ivanovic of Union Saint-Gilloise as his replacement and Ritsu Doan also arriving from Freiburg.

Antony exit latest

Erik ten Hag has left the door open for a reunion with Manchester United winger Antony.

The Dutchman, now at Bayer Leverkusen following his departure from Old Trafford last October, was in charge of the Red Devils when the Brazilian winger arrived from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

Furthermore, ten Hag first brought Antony to Europe a couple of years prior, bringing him from Sao Paulo to Amsterdam.

Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley is set to join Luton on a permanent deal.

Standard Sport understands Spurs have agreed to part ways with the 22-year-old after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

Keeley, whose current deal expires in 2027, is now set to join Luton once the final details of the move to Kenilworth Road are ironed out.

DONE DEAL

Manchester City have confirmed that Maximo Perrone has joined Como on a permanent deal.

The midfielder once again links up with former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in Italy after impressing during a loan spell last season.

“My time at Manchester City has come to an end but I’d like to thank everyone at the Club for their support and guidance during my invaluable time at the CFA,” said Perrone.

Newcastle's interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is in danger of blocking Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United, writes Sam Tabuteau.

The Bees do not want to sell both star forwards in the same summer as they wait for either Newcastle or Man United to meet their valuations.

Newcastle, who are yet to enter negotiations with Brentford, value Wissa at around £30-35million.

Brentford want a fee of around £50m for the 28-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, but would be prepared to accept less than their valuation if payment terms were favourable.
