LIVE – Updated at 17:56

The summer transfer window is about to enter its final month with hundreds of millions already splashed on some major signings.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, closing out a deal worth £63m for the forward who was unveiled as a new Gunner during their pre-season match against Newcastle on Sunday. The Gunners have also confirmed the signing of Cristhian Mosquera in defence and they now have their sights on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

Liverpool have signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £79m deal having beaten off interest from Newcastle to secure his signature. The Reds have also agreed to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich which could challenge the resolve of Newcastle who are holding firm in their valuation of Alexander Isak. Isak has requested to ‘explore his options’ away from the club with a move to Liverpool seemingly the likeliest destination as the Premier League champions aim to strengthen their forward line.

Elsewhere, Manchester United have completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo who joins Matheus Cunha in Ruben Amorim’s new-look attack though the manager is still hopeful of securing a No.9 before the start of the season. Marcus Rashford has completed a loan move to Barcelona while Jadon Sancho is drawing interest from Juventus as the club also focus on outgoings.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have their sights on a Dutch duo of Xavi Simons and centre-back Jorrel Hato.

All the latest updates, rumours and done deals will be covered in the blog below:

Everton are aiming to secure a loan deal for Jack Grealish, although any negotiation depends on whether Manchester City will accept a "deluxe" temporary agreement or push for a permanent sale.

The 29-year-old has been frozen out of Pep Guardiola's squad, having not been taken to the Club World Cup, and is free to look at other options.

Napoli have expressed interest so far, but Everton feel they have a chance due to the player's anticipated willingness to stay in the north, sources tell The Independent.

The player had a daughter with his long-term partner Sasha Attwood in September, and is keen for some stability.

Everton would provide the chance to stay in Cheshire and could present an attractive football opportunity, too.

Leipzig using Ekitike fee as benchmark?

17:55 , Chris Wilson

Reports from Germany suggest that RB Leipzig will use the fee Liverpool paid for Hugo Ekitike as a reference point for their valuation of Benjamin Sesko this summer.

Ekitike completed a £79m move to Liverpool earlier in the window, with Leipzig expected to demand a similar sort of fee for their Slovenian striker, who is a target of Newcastle and Man Utd.

Rodrygo to Liverpool?

17:38 , Chris Wilson

Could this really happen? It’s quite possible now.

Foot Mercato in France are reporting that Liverpool have opened talks with Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.

The 24-year-old winger is out of favour under Xabi Alonso and could seek a move this summer.

L’Equipe also detailed how Rodrygo would “without a doubt” replace Luis Diaz, should the Colombian international leave this summer and now he has agreed a deal to make the switch to Bayern Munich.

Alexander Isak is seemingly next on Liverpool’s target list but should Newcastle remain firm in their £150m valuation, the Reds could target Rodrygo instead.

Nunez targeted by Milan and Juve

17:22 , Chris Wilson

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly being monitored by AC Milan and Juventus.

Nunez had previously been a target for Napoli, though the Serie A champions chose to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese instead.

Both Milan and Juve are looking for a striker and have shown interest in the 26-year-old, though there have been no contact offers or bids from either club.

Saudi Arabia is still a possible destination too, with Al Hilal among his admirers.

Nunez has three years left on his deal at Liverpool, and it is believed the Reds would want around £70m to secure his sale.

Liverpool transfer news: Alexander Isak, Rodrygo, Jean-Philippe Mateta and more

17:07 , Chris Wilson

Arne Slot orchestrated a stunning debut campaign at Anfield, inheriting a stacked squad from Jurgen Klopp before taking English football by storm to seal a record-equalling 20th top-flight crown for the club.

The summer months of 2024 hardly shaped the season that followed for Liverpool, and Slot has already proven that he doesn’t require overwhelming transfer activity to be successful. Last summer, he saw just two arrivals come through the door in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili (who was immediately loaned back to Valencia) and Federico Chiesa, who played a total of just 104 minutes in the Premier League.

But with Trent Alexander-Arnold heading for the exit and a Premier League title to defend, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are expected to engage in a substantial recruitment drive over the coming months.

And the signs are extremely promising for Reds fans, with Jeremy Frimpong having signed from Bayer Leverkusen before Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike followed through the door.

Here’s everything you need to know about Liverpool’s summer transfer plans.

Felix completes move to Al Nassr

16:50 , Chris Wilson

Saudi side Al Nassr agreed a deal worth £43.7m for Chelsea forward Joao Felix yesterday, and it is now being reported that the Portuguese has completed his move.

The 25-year-old was given permission to travel to Riyadh for his medical, and now Ben Jacobs reports that “Felix has already participated in his first training session”.

“Only the club announcement remains,” he adds.

Chelsea transfer news: Xavi Simons, Jorrel Hato, Morgan Rogers, Rodrygo and more

16:33 , Chris Wilson

Though a successful Club World Cup campaign sees Chelsea return from the USA as world champions, the Blues are not expected to slow down their transfer activity ahead of the new season starting in August.

The club began the summer transfer windows with their usual vigour and have already completed the signings of Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap, while adding Joao Pedro in time for the Brazilian to score in the Club World Cup final against PSG.

Enzo Maresca’s side are preparing for a jaunt into the Champions Leaguenext season after finishing fourth in the English top-flight and winning the Conference League in a busy term.

Some fans will feel the Blues still have work to do in the summer, with a bulking of the squad needed in some areas to provide the quality demanded by Europe’s elite club competition.

There is no shortage of funds at Stamford Bridge, with big-money moves a constant fixture of recent transfer windows, and this summer is set to be no different.

Here’s everything you need to know about Chelsea’s summer transfer plans.

Liverpool could submit bid for Isak this week

16:17 , Mike Jones

The Daily Mail report that Liverpool are readying to submit an official bid for Alexander Isak this week having boosted their financial power with a deal to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich.

Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe, has admitted there was ‘no chance’ Isak would be meeting up with the squad in Asia which gives rise to an expected move away from the club.

The club value Isak at £150m but it will be tough to extract that price out of Liverpool though a high bid - somewhere between £100-£130m - is expected.

The Magpies will need to decide whether it is worth cashing in on Isak or forcing him to stay as he has three years left on his current deal.

Man United transfer news: Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins, Corentin Tolisso and more

16:04 , Chris Wilson

Manchester United face a crucial summer as Ruben Amorim finally gets the chance to shape his squad and transform his failing team into contenders at the top end of the table.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that Amorim initially rebuffed United’s approachfollowing the sacking of Erik ten Hag, and perhaps he was wise to try and delay the move, because what followed was a disastrous campaign cuminating in the 1-0 loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Now Amorim has a full preseason to prepare his side and a summer transfer window to mould his squad before a season without European football, and he must take full advantage.

The release of the Premier League fixtures shows a difficult start for United, with an opening game agasint Arsenal and fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea within their first five matches of 2025/26, and the manager’s future could be called into question early should his side struggle.

United got some early business done with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5m deal before completing a move for Brentford star Bryon Mbeumo, but co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made clear that the money pot is not deep.

Offloading high-wage players such as Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho seems key to funding the revolution, with a lack of movement causing frustration among fans as United lag behind their rivals.

Here’s everything you need to know about Manchester United’s summer transfer plans.

Forest making progress in Ndoye deal

15:49 , Chris Wilson

Nottingham Forest are “in advanced talks” with Italian side Bologna over the signing of winger Dan Ndoye, reports the Telegraph.

The deal to sign the Switzerland international would be for a club record fee, above the £30m Forest paid for Ibrahim Sangare.

Ndoye will sign a five-year contract if he completes his move.

Nuno Espirito Santo is also targeting Adama Traore, with talks starting with Fulham over a potential deal, while Jacob Ramsey and Ben Doak are two other options who have been discussed.

PSG close to agreement for Chevalier

15:33 , Chris Wilson

Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG are close to reaching an agreement with Lille to sign goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier for €40m.

“Agreement done with the goalkeeper and deal at final stages between clubs,” reports Romano.

It is not known whether the signing will be made as a replacement for Gianluigi Donnraumma, who it is said could be on the way out from the Champions league winners.

Jackson to Newcastle?

15:17 , Chris Wilson

Nicolas Jackson has emerged as a target for Newcastle, with the Magpies having made preliminary contact with Chelsea according to the i.

However, Chelsea value the Senegal striker at around £80m, while Newcastle’s valuation is closer to £65m.

Inside Arsenal’s move for Viktor Gyokeres - and why he will change the title race

15:01 , Chris Wilson

When Arsenal finally accelerated plans to get a striker this summer, they had one fixed line. That was not to go above £65m. Such a figure might make it sound like they weren’t that serious about a striker - and there have been some questions about the exact level of the talented Viktor Gyokeres - but then this wasn’t quite about getting the striker anymore. It was about options, and having enough to finally win the title.

This is the defining trait of Arsenal’s summer so far, which is that Mikel Arteta is determined to address the key flaws of last season.

Having claimed 89 points in 2023-24, Arsenal fell away because they didn’t have enough depth, with overuse ultimately leading to fitness issues, and not enough forward options. Their benches at the end of the season were often strikingly thin, resulting in the attack becoming overly dependent on Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. That in turn made Arsenal easier to predict, which only accentuated their problems.

Mikey Moore to go on loan?

14:44 , Chris Wilson

Rangers are the current favourites to sign Spurs prospect Mikey Moore on loan, though several clubs have enquired as to the 17-year-old’s availability.

Spurs want Moore to get regular playing time elsewhere, with Thomas Frank said to be happy with the options available to him in that position at present.

When will Viktor Gyokeres make his Arsenal debut?

14:16 , Chris Wilson

The Gunners have been trying to strengthen their forward line for most of the summer transfer window with attempts to bring RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko to the Emirates falling apart before a deal for Gyokeres was spread out over weeks of negotiations.

Arsenal finally secured their striker in a £55m deal, which could rise to £65m with related add-ons, and Gyokeres passed a medical on Saturday 26 July before flying out to Singapore to meet up with the squad for their pre-season tour.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been strengthening during this transfer window with Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga already secured before Gyokeres’ signing.

Arsenal ramp up bid for Crystal Palace star

14:01 , Chris Wilson

Arsenal are aiming to swiftly move to secure Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze once the deal for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres is complete.

The Independent understands the Swede is currently in London for his medical, allowing Arsenal to turn their attention to other targets.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are Eze's top choice, as has previously been reported by The Independent, and those close to the player are confident a deal will be done in the next few weeks.

Diaz expected to begin Bayern medical tomorrow

13:33 , Chris Wilson

Luis Diaz will begin his Bayern Munich medical tomorrow, reports Sky.

Diaz is scheduled to leave Tokyo today before arriving in Germany tomorrow, where he’ll do his tests.

Bayern have agreed a deal with Liverpool for around £65.5m for the Colombian, and he’s set to sign a four-year contract at the Bundesliga champions.

Antony targeted by Saudi clubs

13:19 , Chris Wilson

Man Utd winger Antony could be set for a move to Al Nassr, with reports suggesting that the Saudi club have made an offer to sign the Brazilian.

Al Nassr are close to completing a deal for Joao Felix but it is not thought that this would affect a move for Antony, with United said to be demanding around £30m.

Real Betis remain interested after a successful loan spell last season, but the Spanish club are said to be finding it difficult to raise the required funds.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle admission opens door to Alexander Isak exit

13:04 , Chris Wilson

Eddie Howe has reiterated he is keen to keep Alexander Isak at Newcastle, but has now admitted he cannot guarantee the striker will stay this summer.

Isak has not joined Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia due to what the club described as a minor thigh injury. However, it is understood that the Sweden international has also asked to explore his options regarding a potential move.

Liverpool have inquired about Isak, although they have since completed the signing of the Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike. Arsenal are also admirers of the 24-year-old, while Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to give him a lucrative contract.

Utd & Newcastle in talks with Sesko?

12:49 , Chris Wilson

Both Manchester United and Newcastle are currently in talks with Benjamin Sesko‘s management, with a decision on his next move now resting with the player according to Sky in Germany.

Newcastle turned their attentions to Sesko after a move for Hugo Ekitike collapsed, while Man Utd have been linked to Sesko in several previous windows and more recently after losing out on Viktor Gyokeres.

Reports elsewhere suggest that RB Leipzig have reduced their asking price for the striker from around £85m to closer to £60m.

Fulham retain interest in Dewsbury-Hall

12:21 , Chris Wilson

Fulham are still interested in a potential move for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with the club willing to buy the 26-year-old on a permanent deal.

Liverpool accept €75m Luis Diaz bid from Bayern Munich

12:08 , Chris Wilson

Liverpool have accepted a €75m bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz, who asked to leave Anfield and is now set to join the German champions.

The Colombian winger, who is currently in Tokyo with Liverpool on their pre-season tour, will leave on Sunday or Monday to complete the formalities of his move.

Liverpool had long insisted Diaz was not for sale but reluctantly agreed to his request to go.

They had rejected an earlier bid of £58.5m from Bayern before accepting an improved offer of £65.5m that Liverpool believe represents market value.

Xhaka set to sign for Sunderland

11:54 , Chris Wilson

Granit Xhaka is set to join Sunderland from Bayer Leverkusen, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The fee will be €20m, with a contract agreed until 2027.

Joe Gomez leaves pre-season tour injured to leave Liverpool with centre-back dilemma

11:39 , Chris Wilson

Gomez has an Achilles problem and while Liverpool do not believe it is serious, the Premier League champions sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen last month and are yet to replace the England Under-21 international.

For now, Liverpool, who have retained an interest in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, only have captain Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as specialist centre-backs.

Newcastle to move on from Wissa?

11:26 , Chris Wilson

Yoane Wissa’s proposed move to Newcastle has hit a stumbling block as Brentford have decided they do not want to sell the player, with the Magpies set to move on to other targets according to Sky.

Wissa made it clear to Brentford that he wants to sign for Newcastle, who had a bid rejected and are reportedly willing to pay around £35m for the Congo international.

Wissa is reportedly irritated at Brentford’s refusal to sell, given that last summer he was given assurances that he could leave the club this year. He wants to play in the Champions League and at 28 believes this could be his last chance to do so.

The 25-year-old is keen on the move and has been given permission to travel to Riyadh for his medical.

The deal means Chelsea will recoup the £45m they paid Atletico Madrid last summer.

Liverpool complete signing of Hugo Ekitike after seeing off late Man United interest

08:56 , Mike Jones

Liverpool have bought Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for a deal worth £79m and believe they have brought in a player who could become one of the best forwards in the world.

The Frenchman, whose fee is an initial £69m with a further £10m depending on bonuses, has signed a six-year contract at Anfield after passing a medical.

Liverpool saw off late interest from Manchester United for the 23-year-old, while Newcastle had offered £70m for Ekitike, which Eintracht rejected.

Leeds ready to increase Paixao offer

08:48 , Mike Jones

Leeds are ready to pay £28m plus add-ons for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao says Sky Sports News.

Leeds’ opening bid of £26m, plus add-ons was not sufficient for the Dutch side and negotiations are ongoing.

Marseille also remain in talks and Roma continue to monitor the situation.

Chelsea and Arsenal battle for Simons

08:40 , Mike Jones

Xavi Simons has made his thoughts clear that he wants to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

Sky Sports say that there is some interest in the midfielder from Premier League clubs and that the player would be open to the move.

Arsenal and Chelsea were the two clubs named but both have been busy scouting out other targets this summer.

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Simons but won’t make any moves until later in the transfer window.

Simons’ fee could cost anywhere between €50-65m.

Fulham still interested in Nelson

08:32 , Mike Jones

Fulham have made just the one signing this summer having become the last Premier League team to strengthen their squad with the signing of a new goalkeeper.

But, they remain interested in re-signing attacking midfielder Reiss Nelson on loan.

“Talks between the clubs are over a loan deal with a permanent element attached,” reports Sky Sports.

Gibbs-White signs new Forest contract

08:24 , Mike Jones

Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

Forest accused Tottenham of making an illegal approach for the midfielder with a £60m bid earlier this month.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis said: "Morgan is a special player – not just in terms of talent, but character and mentality. He represents everything we want this football club to be: he is a winner, talented, ambitious, fearless, and proud.

"There was significant interest from various clubs, but we were determined to build our future with Morgan at the heart of it. I promised our fans we would not only compete, but grow stronger and stronger every season. Today is another big step in that journey."

When will Viktor Gyokeres make his Arsenal debut?

08:16 , Mike Jones

The Gunners have been trying to strengthen their forward line for most of the summer transfer window with attempts to bring RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko to the Emirates falling apart before a deal for Gyokeres was spread out over weeks of negotiations.

Arsenal finally secured their striker in a £55m deal, which could rise to £65m with related add-ons, and Gyokeres passed a medical on Saturday 26 July before flying out to Singapore to meet up with the squad for their pre-season tour.

Rodrygo to Liverpool?

08:08 , Mike Jones

Newcastle’s handling of Alexander Isak transfer saga slammed by club legend Alan Shearer

08:00 , Mike Jones

The former Newcastle striker says the club made themselves look “ridiculous” on Thursday for claiming that Isak was injured amid reports he wants to explore a move away from the club.

Newcastle released a statement on Thursday morning to say the Swede would miss the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh problem.

Gunners sign centre-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia

07:52 , Mike Jones

Arsenal have signed centre-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.

The Spanish defender, 21, turned pro with the La Liga club in 2021 after coming through their academy.

Mosquera then made 90 first-team appearances for Valencia.

He is also able to represent Colombia, having only played for Spain at under-21 level – though he won Olympic gold with the Spanish side last summer.

Manchester City set to re-sign James Trafford

07:45 , Richard Jolly

City, who sold the 22-year-old to Burnley two years ago, activated the matching rights clause they put in that deal when Newcastle agreed a fee with the promoted club.

And Trafford, a long-term target for Eddie Howe, decided against going to St James’ Park in favour of a move to the former Premier League champions.

Trafford will sign a five-year deal, with City possessing the option to extend it for a further season, and personal terms have been agreed.

Alexander Isak eyes Newcastle exit with Liverpool and Chelsea considering situation

07:38 , Miguel Delaney

Alexander Isak wants to explore options at other clubs and a transfer away from Newcastle United, potentially throwing Eddie Howe’s summer plans into chaos.

The 25-year-old was not included in last week's friendly defeat to Celtic due to "speculation", and has now not travelled to Singapore for pre-season due to a thigh injury.

And Newcastle have been made aware that Isak is keen to consider his future elsewhere.

Arsenal ramp up bid for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

07:23 , Mike Jones

Arsenal are aiming to swiftly move to secure Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze now that the deal for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres is complete.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are Eze's top choice, as has previously been reported by The Independent, and those close to the player are confident a deal will be done in the next few weeks.

Arsenal are hoping to agree a fee that comes to £60m, rather than the reported £68m clause, although on terms that are also amenable to Palace.

Although there has not yet been any formal contact between the two clubs, the suggestions are that both will be flexible, amid good relations between the two boardrooms.

Arsenal complete Viktor Gyokeres signing

07:22 , Miguel Delaney

Arsenal have completed the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting, for a final fee of €63m (£55m) with a further €10m to potentially be paid in add-ons (totalling £64m).

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract.

The purchase marks the end of an 18-month hunt for a number-nine from Arsenal, who have been insistent on signing a goalscorer for the “here and now”.

Gyokeres’ arrival also marks the end of a hard period of negotiations with Sporting, who were insistent on more achievable add-ons. At one point, the deal dragged on and stalled over a potential add-on of €5m.

Man Utd told Ollie Watkins is 'not for sale' after initial approach

07:22 , Mike Jones

Manchester United have been firmly rebuffed by Aston Villa after an informal inquiry over a possible move for Ollie Watkins.

United made the inquiry on Thursday evening but were told that Watkins ‘is not for sale’.

Watkins is just one of a few strikers United have looked at along with others including Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

With a valuation of around £60m, Watkins is one of the cheaper options United are exploring and has proven Premier League quality.

If they do pursue a deal then it will be difficult to convince Villa to part ways with their man.

Liverpool accept €75m Luis Diaz bid from Bayern Munich

07:20 , Richard Jolly

Liverpool have accepted a €75m bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz, who asked to leave Anfield and is now set to join the German champions.

The Colombian winger, who is currently in Tokyo with Liverpool on their pre-season tour, will leave on Sunday or Monday to complete the formalities of his move.

Liverpool had long insisted Diaz was not for sale but reluctantly agreed to his request to go.
