Man Utd given boost in pursuit of Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres is open to joining his former manager Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

That’s according to TalkSport, who report that Sporting want £60m for the prolific striker, who has 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal.

Gyokeres is a wanted man, with Arsenal also interested in his signature and with Champions League football to offer, but United hope Amorim can persuade the Swede to move to Old Trafford.

And they will be buoyed by signs that the 27-year-old wants to join.

A potential stumbling block is the fact United can not offer European football this season which may give other interested clubs an advantage in negotiations.

Liverpool offer £113m for Wirtz

Liverpool have launched a new record bid for Florian Wirtz, raising their offer to a club record £113m.

Liverpool’s initial proposal came to £109m, including add-ons, but they have now submitted an improved offer with a greater guarantee of £100m.

Everton in talks to keep Calvert-Lewin

Everton have confirmed new deals have been offered to captain Seamus Coleman and midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.

They are also negotiating with defender Michael Keane and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin over the prospect of extending their stays at the club.

The right back has struggled with injuries but will hope to perform strongly in 2025/26.

Wrexham target Ward

Wrexham are in talks with Leicester over a possible deal for goalkeeper Danny Ward.

Discussions are thought to be in the early stages.

The 31-year-old Ward has 44 caps for Wales and would bring experience to Wrexham’s squad as they look to perform strongly in the Championship.

Wirtz switch to Liverpool faces new twist

Liverpool’s chase of Florian Wirtz faces an added layer of complication with FC Koln wading into the transfer, demanding they are paid what they are due from any lucrative sale Leverkusen.

Leverkusen poached the young Wirtz from local rivals Koln and BILD reports that Koln’s president, Werner Wolf, said he is out to get a slice of the £100m+ transfer fee.

“We are looking into it. We know what we are entitled to and will fight for it,” Wolf said.

West Ham are yet to make a formal decision on the future of Michail Antonio as the striker continues his recover from a serious car crash.

This is despite the 25-year-old being listed as a “free transfer” on the club’s retained list, which has been today been announced.

Antonio’s current contract is due to expire on June 30 and the Jamaica international is still sidelined after being involved in the crash in December, which left him with a broken femur.

The striker posted a montage clip of his recovery on his Instagram page on Sunday (8 June), with the caption “Faith will overcome all challenges”.

De Jong on new Barcelona contract

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong believes he will sign a new contract with the club with his current deal is set to expire next summer.

“I think I will sign a new contract, but you can never say that with a hundred per cent certainty. If everything goes well, then it will happen,” De Jong told Dutch outlet Voetbalzone.

“They want it and I want it, so normally you can work it out.”

West Ham still to make decision on Antonio

West Ham United are still to make a decision on Michail Antonio’s future after a serious road traffic accident in December required the striker to undergo surgery.

A club statement release on Monday read: "As a long-serving, highly-respected player, and a much-loved member of the West Ham family, the club’s absolute priority at this time is to support Michail personally in his journey to resume playing at the highest level."

Antonio’s contract runs out on June 30th and the club added: “There will be no formal decision and announcement on his future until such time that it is considered right and appropriate.

“However, as his current contract is also due to expire on 30 June, for the purposes of the Premier League Retained List procedure at the end of the 2024/25 season, Michail will be listed as a free transfer.”

West Ham have announced their retained list and there are some big departures from the club.

Left-back Aaron Cresswell, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, right-back Vladimir Coufal, striker Danny Ings and centre-back Kurt Zouma will formally depart the club.

Ait-Nouri may also have done a medical over the weekend, or else it will be today, and those transfers will be finalised for a combined total of around £77m.

Both are expected to go through before tomorrow’s Club World Cup deadline and City are pushing to sign France winger Rayan Cherki.

Contact has been made with Lyon in the hopes a deal can be done allowing all three players to feature in Fifa’s tournament this summer.

Borussia Dortmund have rejected an offer from Chelsea for winger Jamie Gittens.

According to a Sky Sports report, the Bluesbid an initial €35m (£29.5m) which was rejected by Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund instead want closer to €50-60m (£42-£50m) for the 20-year-old.

Newcastle in for Elanga?

Newcastle have reportedly made an initial inquiry with Nottingham Forest about signing Anthony Elanga this summer.

Alexander Isak’s future at the club is still in doubt with moves elsewhere certainly possible.

Italy midfielder Jorginho has joined Brazilian side Flamengo ahead of this month's Club World Cup, following a mutual termination of his contract with Arsenal, both clubs said.

Jorginho, whose Arsenal deal was set to expire at the end of the month, has joined Flamengo on a contract until July 2028.

The 33-year-old Brazil-born Italy international moved to North London from Chelsea in January 2023, making 78 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal.

Liverpool offer £113m for Wirtz

We start with the news that Liverpool have launched a new record bid for Florian Wirtz, raising their offer to a club record £113m.

Liverpool’s initial proposal came to £109m, including add-ons, but they have now submitted an improved offer with a greater guarantee of £100m.

Wirtz also attracted attention from Bayern Munich but told the German champions he wanted to go to Liverpool.

Wirtz switch to Liverpool faces new twist

Liverpool’s chase of Florian Wirtz faces an added layer of complication with FC Koln wading into the transfer, demanding they are paid what they are due from any lucrative sale Leverkusen.

Leverkusen poached the young Wirtz from local rivals Koln and BILD reports that Koln’s president, Werner Wolf, said he is out to get a slice of the £100m+ transfer fee.

“We are looking into it. We know what we are entitled to and will fight for it,” Wolf said.
