Transfer news LIVE! Chelsea plan Gittens medical; Gyokeres chooses Arsenal; Man Utd close in on Mbeumo

LIVE – Updated at 08:12

Chelsea took a huge step towards a crucial transfer target on Saturday, with reports claiming a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is all but complete. The player is due to undergo a medical in the United States imminently. It would be the second major attacking signing of the summer for the Blues, after they brought in Liam Delap earlier this month. They are also said to be weighing up moves for Alejandro Garnacho and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and have also been offered the chance to sign Emi Martinez.

Arsenal are looking to wrap three deals over the coming days, with Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga having undergone medicals, and talks with Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera progressing well. There is ongoing interest in Benjamin Sesk, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze for attacking reinforcements.

Manchester United have again won the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo, amid rival interest from Tottenham, but Brentford have rejected a second bid, worth £62.5m. Spurs could move on to Crystal Palace star Eze with Bournemouth demanding £70million for Antoine Semenyo. Kota Takai is set to become Thomas Frank's first signing. Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez and are now plotting a stunning bid for Alexander Isak as Darwin Nunez heads for the exit. Dortmund prospect completes shock move

Saturday 28 June 2025 18:00 , Oli Gent

Borussia Dortmund’s highly-rated forward Youssoufa Moukoko has completed a move to FC Copenhagen.

Moukoko, who made his Bundesliga debut at just 16 years old, was touted as the next big thing to come out of Signal Iduna Park, and his involvement grew more frequent under the guidance of Marco Rose, after the departure of Erling Haaland and Sebastien Haller’s illness.

However, things took a turn, as he was loaned to Nice last season, but failed to truly impress, and he has now made a permanent switch to Scandinavia in a cut-price deal worth €5m + €2m in add-ons.

Liverpool 'close in' on Guehi

Saturday 28 June 2025 17:40 , Oli Gent

The Mirror claims that Liverpool are nearing completion of their pursuit of Marc Guehi.

The Reds have made the Crystal Palace defender their priority target to replace the departing Jarrell Quansah, who leaves for Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Guehi’s contract at Palace expires next year, with the Eagles valuing their skipper at £70million, although accepting that £40m may be more of a reasonable price tag with his current deal running down.

The report reads that Arne Slot’s side are at the front of the queue for the England international’s signature, beating the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham at present.

Arsenal aware of Gyokeres U-turn

Saturday 28 June 2025 08:30 , Alex Young

Viktor Gyokeres has had a change of heart over joining Arsenal this summer, with Manchester United now in pole position to sign the Sporting striker.

It was reported earlier in June that Gyokeres had "officially" rejected United and a reunion with former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim following Arsenal making their interest clear.

Gyokeres was then said to have told friends and family that he will sign for Arsenal this summer, despite the Gunners being in talks with both Sporting and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko over summer deals, before making a decision on one.

Standard Sport understands that Sporting are demanding at least €70million (£59.6m) to begin negotiations over a fee, and recent reports suggested that Arsenal were clear favourites to sign Gyokeres despite seeing an opening bid worth €55m (£47m) reportedly rejected.

But The Mirror now claim that United are back in the frame, and seen by some as the most likely destination for Gyokeres despite being unable to offer Champions League football.

Newly promoted Sunderland’s ambitious window is set to continue, with the Black Cats reportedly eyeing a move for Lazio’s Mateo Guendouzi.

So report RMC Sport, who claim that manager Regent Le Bris would like a reunion with the player after coaching him in Lorient’s academy. He has since played for Arsenal and Marseille before moving to Serie A.

A deal is made more likely by Lazio’s rocky finances, but it is unclear whether Guendouzi is open to the move.

Benfica eye Joao Felix reunion

Friday 27 June 2025 21:47

Benfica has emerged as a potential destination for Chelsea’s João Félix, whose future is again in flux following a difficult loan at AC Milan.

Felix has proven something of a square peg in a round hole throughout his career, undeniably talented but with his best position still undefined.

He enjoyed a semi-successful six-month loan from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea in 2023, scoring four goals in 16 League appearances, but could not reproduce that form after permanently joining the Blues last summer in a £45million deal.

He failed to impress Enzo Maresca, finding the back of the net just once in 12 appearances before being sent away to AC Milan, where his fortunes did not improve.

Benfica could now provide him a second chance, though, as they weigh up a £25.6m bid.

Chelsea prepare fire sale

Friday 27 June 2025 20:50 , Arthur Ferridge

Much has been made of Chelsea’s buying power in this window, but what of their sales? TalkSport have listed some names that could leave.

Joao Felix’s future is again in flux following a poor loan at AC Milan, and Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC could serve as a new home for the enigmatic Portuguese.

Also in the shop window are Ben Chillwell, Axel Disasi, Leslye Ugochukwu, Armando Broja, and Alfie Gilchrist.

Renato Veiga could look to move on amid reports he is primarily interested in playing at CB, where Chelsea cannot guarantee him minutes.

Chelsea ‘accept’ that either Noni Madueke or Nicolas Jackson could be sold should a suitable offer be received, though they are not actively looking to sell.

Keith Andrews appointment a risk but shrewd Brentford have earned fans' trust

Friday 27 June 2025 18:41 , Arthur Ferridge

Their long-serving head coach Thomas Frank has departed for Tottenham after seven years in charge, while star forward Bryan Mbeumo, who scored 20 top-flight goals last season, looks set to exit for Manchester United and captain Christian Norgaard is on his way to Arsenal.

The core of this community club suddenly feels quite hollow, and fans’ anxieties haven't been softened by the news that Keith Andrews, who arrived at the club as a set-piece coach last summer, has been promoted from within as Frank's successor.

A modest coaching career that's spanned spells at MK Dons, the Republic of Ireland and Sheffield United leaves Andrews with plenty to prove that he’s ready to guide Brentford into a pivotal season.

Betis want 'very complex' Antony deal

Friday 27 June 2025 14:23 , Matt Verri

Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has provided an update on the club’s attempts to sign Antony.

The Brazilian spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis and is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, with the Spanish club keen for a quick reunion with Antony.

“We all have to be aware that this is a very complex operation. Given the player’s level and his recent career at Real Betis, it’s not an easy transaction,” Fajardo said.

“But, as long as Antony hasn’t committed to a third party, we, with the utmost humility, will play our cards to be able to opt for Antony.

“I insist, despite this being a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without compromising the club.

“In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the club. We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today, the market is open, as I said before, it’s very dynamic, and we are part of that game.”

Newcastle stand firm over Liverpool target Isak

Friday 27 June 2025 07:30 , Alex Young

Newcastle have no intention of selling Alexander Isak this summer amid links to Liverpool, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

He said: "Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak whatsoever, and want to renew his contract. They’re in a strong position with over three years remaining on his current deal, as part of which he is already paid well.

“They’ll have no problem offering more, too - he’s at the centre of that ambitious Saudi-led project.

"From the player’s point of view, he has top level football secured with Newcastle’s qualification for next season’s Champions League, and he won the club their first trophy in a long time. He looks to be happy - always with a smile on his face.

"It could take around £150m just to start a conversation - there’s no suggestion of any developments despite recent rumours and reports. Liverpool may try, but that doesn’t mean they’ll succeed."

Having failed to clinch the signing of Gittens prior to the Club World Cup, talks have continued over in the United States.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are now close to signing Gittens, though will still have to pay a fee in excess of £50m for the England Under-21 international.

Norgaard set for Arsenal medical

Friday 27 June 2025 06:52 , Alex Young

Arsenal hope to have a deal for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard wrapped up by the weekend.

The Gunners have moved quickly for Norgaard, tabling a £9.3million bid on Wednesday, and Brentford are prepared to accept the midfielder’s desire to play Champions League football.

Personal terms have already been agreed and a medical scheduled, with Norgaard set to replace Jorginho, who has departed for Flamengo, and Thomas Partey, whose Arsenal contract is due to expire at the end of the month.

Brentford pushing for £63m Bryan Mbeumo fee

Friday 27 June 2025 06:42 , Alex Young

Brentford remain hopeful of securing a fee in the region of £63million for Bryan Mbeumo in an attempt to eclipse what Manchester United paid for Matheus Cunha, writes Sam Tabuteau.

As Standard Sport reported earlier this week, United will pay an up-front fee of £55m for Mbeumo. However, the two clubs remain locked in negotiations over the size and achievability of the add-ons included in the deal.

Talks have taken place this week over the nature of those add-ons, with Brentford wanting more than £7m in order to take them past the fee Wolves will receive for Brazilian forward Cunha.
