Arteta and Heinze set for Arsenal reunion

Former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze is set to join Arsenal’s coaching staff, writes Simon Collings.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been looking to add to his backroom staff after assistant coach Carlos Cuesta became Parma’s head coach earlier this summer.

Arteta has known Heinze since he was a teenager at Paris Saint-Germain, where the pair played together over a decade ago.

The Arsenal manager described Heinze as one of the “unbelievable players” he played with and an “inspiration”.

Gittens set for Chelsea move

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Jamie Gittens is “on the verge” of completing a move to Chelsea.

It was previously reported by Standard Sport that the Blues and the Bundesliga side had agreed a fee of £55million for the winger, including add-ons.

The 20-year-old Englishman is in Dortmund’s squad for the Club World Cup in the United States, but has not featured at all since the 0-0 draw with Fluminense in the group stages, when he came off the bench as a 77th-minute substitute for Julian Brandt.

Chelsea had been targeting a right-footed left winger this summer, and appear to have got their priority target.

Aaron Ramsey has completed his move to Mexican side Club Universidad Nacional, - known as Pumas UNAM.

It is understood Ramsey has joined the Mexico City-based club on a one-year deal and becomes the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league.

David arrives for medical

Jonathan David has arrived in Turin ahead of having a medical today with Juventus, according to Sky Sports.

David is a free agent after his contract at Lille expired earlier this week.

Provided everything goes to plan with the medical, the forward will sign his Juventus contract.

Rodrygo boost

Real Madrid will not stand in the way of Rodrygo if he wants to leave amid links to Arsenal.

The Athletic reports the Gunners are interested in the Brazilian to fill the left side of their attack - a role he doesn't have at the Santiago Bernabeu.

That said, a move to Paris Saint-Germain has also been floated in the past 24 hours.

It is believed Los Blancos value Rodrygo at around £70m (€81m).

Gabriel Heinze is joining Arsenal as part of coaching staff.

The Athletic have reported that the former Manchester United and Argentina defender is being added to group as a replacement for Carlos Cuesta who recently became Parma head coach.

Newcastle have made an improved offer in the region of £55m for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.

Gittens latest

Jamie Gittens is Chelsea-bound. A £55m deal has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund and all that remains is for an official announcement.

What is for certain is Gittens will play no part of Dortmund's Club World Cup quarter-final against Real Madrid this weekend.

The reason for this? To avoid a potentially injury, as explained by Dortmund manager director, Lars Ricken.

Speaking to DAZN earlier in the week, he said: “He’s in the hotel. We released him briefly once for discussions, but he’s back now.

“I think it’s in the interest of everyone involved not to take too great a risk that a player might get injured

“Nothing’s set in stone yet, and if anything, it will take a while.

“If there were a strong probability that such a transfer would work out, I would announce it here, but obviously I won’t.”

Manchester United in race against time to sign Mbeumo

Brentford are holding firm over their asking price for Bryan Mbeumo, as Manchester United face a race against time to reach an agreement for the forward before pre-season starts, writes Sam Tabuteau.

The Bees are demanding more than £63million for Mbeumo and are refusing to lower that valuation.

Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.

The Brazil international looks set to leave the LaLiga giants this summer following a frustrating time at the Club World Cup.

Manchester United appear finally close to wrapping up a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils have been in pursuit of the signing of Brentford’s attacking talisman ever since completing the early summer arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves last month.

It looks like Djordje Petrovic is on his way out of Chelsea again this summer, this time on a permanent deal.

Liverpool are interested in a deal for Castello Lukeba, reports claim.

Cristhian Mosquera looks like he very much wants to join Arsenal.

News first emerged last week that the Gunners were chasing a deal for Valencia’s highly-rated young defender, having seen an initial bid worth around £12.1m rejected by the LaLiga club.

Arsenal were expected to table an improved second offer in the region of £17.2m this week.

There are now reports that Mosquera has submitted a transfer request after snubbing Valencia’s offer of a new bumper three-year contract, per Las Provincas in Spain.

Manchester United are believed to have now opened talks over Ollie Watkins.

Gyokeres agrees Arsenal deal

Viktor Gyokeres has agreed a deal with Arsenal, reports claim.

The prolific Swedish international has been one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets as he bids to finally make a statement striker signing this summer, along with Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig.

However, progress has slowed notably with Gyokeres - also wanted by Manchester United - embroiled in a bitter ongoing row with Sporting, where it’s claimed he could go on strike.

According to transfer specialist Nicolo Schira, the former Coventry frontman now has an agreement in principle on a five-year contract with Arsenal until 2030.

Swansea have agreed a £1.5m deal to sign Leyton Orient central midfielder Ethan Galbraith, according to Sky Sports.

It’s understood the Northern Ireland international has also agreed personal terms with the Championship club.

Joao Pedro shirt number

Joao Pedro will have some big shoes to fill upon learning of his Chelsea shirt number.

Pedro’s transfer, said to be in the region of £60m, from fellow Premier League side Brighton was completed on Wednesday and the Brazilian has been signed in time to feature in the Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras.

Pedro has been handed the no.20 shirt at Stamford Bridge. This squad number had only been vacant for a short space of time with Cole Palmer upgrading to no.10 before the Club World Cup.

Giroud on Lille move

Olivier Giroud says he has plenty to offer his new club Lille.

The 38-year-old Frenchman was presented to the media on Wednesday after ending a disappointing spell in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC.

His contract with LAFC was set to expire at the end of this year, but the club and Giroud mutually agreed to part ways so he could leave on a free transfer and join Lille, which finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season.

He said: "I feel in good shape physically, don't worry.

"I'm ready to take up the challenge. I feel good for my age and I want to play until my body says stop."

Crystal Palace make formal offer for Eze replacement

Italian publication, Il Resto del Carlino claim Crystal Palace have made a formal offer for Bologna forward Dan Ndoye.

The Switzerland international is also courting interest from Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, with the Serie A champions also making an offer which was not deemed enough.

With Napoli now working on other options, including PSV Eindhoven’s Noa Lang, it may open the door for Palace to swoop.

However, Ndoye is thought to be hesitant about a move to the Eagles as he is clinging on to the opportunity of joining Napoli.

That said, if Palace can convince Ndoye then he may be a direct replacement for Eberechi Eze who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Pedro debut?

Because Chelsea wrapped up a deal for Joao Pedro before Thursday’s deadline, the Brazilian will be in contention to make his debut against Palmeiras this weekend.

This is because the rule states teams in the competition can add at least two new players to their Club World Cup squad.

Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool striker, is considring retirement.

Former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has joined Liverpool as assistant coach to Arne Slot.

Van Bronckhorst, who played for Arsenal and Barcelona during a distinguished career, won titles as a coach in the Netherlands with Feyenoord and Scotland with Rangers.

His most recent role was as coach of Turkish team Besiktas.

Liverpool are now said to be in advanced talks over signing Marc Guehi.

The Reds have turned their attention to the Crystal Palace captain as they seek further defensive reinforcements after boosting their attack with a club-record deal for Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool were expected to make a significant offer for Guehi, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Selhurst Park and appears unlikely to agree an extension.
