Rodrygo's wages a stumbling block for Arsenal

Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has cooled as the Gunners are reportedly unwilling to match the Brazilian’s wages.

He is currently paid €10 million per year by Real, about £8.4m, a sum which Arsenal do not want to match. The player is still willing to move should a suitable offer come in.

Liverpool make Wirtz offer

There has been yet another twist in Liverpool’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz - the Premier League champions have made a formal offer for the player.

Wirtz, a Germany international, reportedly gave the Liverpool move the green light earlier today, informing Bayern Munich that he was no longer interested in a move to Bavaria.

Liverpool and Leverkusen are now negotiating the package, with a move expected to be worth €150m.

Ten clubs targetting Bruno

Bruno Fernandes is a man in demand this summer, and Man United may be forced to sell him as they look to balance the books after missing out on the windfall that comes with qualifying for the Champions League.

They also need to fund a comprehensive overhaul of Ruben Amorim’s ailing squad ahead of next season, and Fernandes is likely to land a bigger fee than much of the rest of the side.

Mitoma interested in Bayern switch

As Bayern Munich are set to miss out on Florian Wirtz, the Bavarian giants are turning their attention to Brighton’s Karou Mitoma.

According to Sky Germany, the Japan international has signalled he is open to the move, and Bayern have already met with his camp.

No official offer has been made as Bayern look to replace Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane.

Mitoma joined Brighton in 2021, scoring 24 goals in 107 appearances.

Wirtz informs Bayern he will join Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has reportedly confirmed to Bayern Munich that he will be joining Liverpool this summer, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

His transfer to Liverpool is described as being ‘one step away’ from completion.

The Reds will finalise the deal with Leverkusen, expected to be worth €150m.

Fernandes set for Saudi switch

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes is reportedly open to a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Red Devils will listen to offers for any player as they plan a comprehensive overhaul of the team.

Saudi sides have long been keen on Fernandes, and he is now thought to be interested in joining Al-Hilal, who are preparing an £80m bid for his services.

The player, though, is awaiting an improved offer from the SPL runners-up. He could make the switch ahead of the Club World Cup, where Al Hilal have been drawn alongside Real Madrid, Pachuca, and RB Salzburg in the group stages.

Walker set for City exit with ideal replacement confirmed

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that former Man City captain Kyle Walker is not in his plans for next season.

The 34-year-old full-back has been on loan at AC Milan since January, when he put in a shock transfer request. He has struggled for form in Italy, but was named in Thomas Tuchel’s summer England squad today.

Asked if Walker would join the City squad for this summer’s Club World Cup, Guardiola said: “Nope.”

A four-man shortlist has reportedly been established as they begin the search for a replacement, with Newcastle’s Tino Livramento said to be topping the list.

Ipswich allow Delap negotiations

Kieran McKenna said that Ipswich have given striker Liam Delap their blessing to enter into contract negotiations with clubs interested in signing him.

“Yes, he’s looking at his options for next year,” said McKenna. “We support him with that.”

Chelsea and Manchester United are both reported to have opened talks with the player, who has scored 12 goals and assisted two in 39 appearances in all competitions this season. Newcastle are also thought to be interested.

Ipswich’s relegation triggered a release clause in his contract, meaning he will be available at a cut-rate of £30million this summer.

Caicedo set for contract extension

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to offer Moises Caicedo a contract extension.

The midfielder has been key to Chelsea’s 2024-25 campaign, starting all 37 of the club’s league matches, with only Marc Cucurella spending more time on pitch in all competitions.

Earlier this month, he was named both the men’s Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season.

No formal offer has yet been made, but the club have made clear to the player’s camp that discussions will soon take place as they look to tie him down and ward off transfer interest. The 23-year-old’s current deal runs through 2031.

He signed from Brighton in August 2023 for a reported fee of £115million.

Chelsea open talks for Brighton's Joao Pedro

Chelsea have stepped up their hunt for a new striker, opening talks with Brighton forward Joao Pedro.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has played predominantly as a centre-forward this season, scoring 10 goals in 27 Premier League appearances. The former Watford and Flamengo man also has three caps for the Brazil national team and is expected to return to the fold under Carlo Ancelotti this summer.

The Blues are reportedly readying a £50million bid, and hope to bring the player on board before this summer’s Club World Cup, which kicks off in June.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had little interest in discussing transfer speculation around Morgan Gibbs-White.

Bayern Munich expect Harry Kane to remain at the club next season.

Winning the Bundesliga ended Kane’s long wait for a trophy and raised some speculation that he could now pursue a move back to the Premier League.

However, BILD report that Kane is now focused on challenging for the Champions League with Bayern.

Liverpool could be moving into pole position to sign Florian Wirtz.

Bayern Munich thought that Wirtz’s word that he would join the club this summer or next, but Liverpool have entered the race and BILD claim that they Bayer Leverkusen star has even started looking at Merseyside houses.

It is reported that Bayern will only offer around £84m for Wirtz and will not match Leverkusen’s £126m valuation, so the coast is clear for Liverpool if they can find the money.

Al-Hilal are pushing to sign Bruno Fernandes before the Club World Cup.

The Athletic report that the Saudi club are preparing an offer of £80m for the Manchester United captain.

Maresca: Fernandez going nowhere at Chelsea

Enzo Maresca insists Enzo Fernandez is going nowhere amid links with Real Madrid - and says the Argentine will be even better next season.

After a slow start to the campaign in which he struggled to nail down a regular first-team shirt, Fernandez has emerged as one of Maresca’s key men.

Fernandez signed for Chelsea in January 2023 and still has seven years to run on his contract, but has reportedly emerged as a target for Real Madrid as incoming manager Xabi Alonso seeks to reshape his midfield.

“Enzo is a main player for us, one of the captains, one of the leaders,” Maresca said, when asked about those reports.

“This season he has been very, very good. He can be even better next season starting from the first day.

“So, nothing to say about speculation. He is focused on us and that’s the most important thing.”

Pressed on whether Fernandez would be staying at the club this summer, he replied: “Yes”.

There has been yet another twist in the meandering saga of Viktor Gyokeres’ future. Just when Arsenal seemed to be closing in on a deal for the prolific Sporting striker, a new spanner has been thrown in the works.

In a new interview, the player’s uncle has said he is now planning to stay in Lisbon following a family meeting.

Asked whether Viktor would be happy to stay at Sporting, his Uncle said: “Yes, we think so.

“Yesterday at dinner we decided that he has to stay.”

Gyokeres himself has given far less away in his own interviews. Asked for an update on his future this week, he simply said: “Hopefully you can expect I keep improving and score goals."

Bayern set Wirtz deadline amid Liverpool fears

Bayern Munich are growing concerned over Liverpool’s chances of signing top transfer target Florian Wirtz, and have set a deadline to get the deal done.

Wirtz is expected to be the subject of the summer’s most expensive deal, with a transfer close of around £126million, and then the same outlay again on wages and other fees over the course of a long-term contract.

Bayern were long considered the favourites to land the Bayer Leverkusen star, but now Liverpool may find themselves in pole position.

According to Kicker, Bayern want an answer and soon, as they want Wirtz in their squad for the Club World Cup, which begins on June 15.

Done deal

Raphinha has signed a contract extension that will keep him with Barcelona until 2028.

The club announced the news on Thursday.

Raphinha joined Barcelona in 2022 and his contract had been due to expire in June 2027.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a fine season, playing a key role in the club's domestic treble with 34 goals and 25 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions.

He said: "This is very rewarding for me and is something very special. It makes me very happy and a personal objective since I arrived is to give the fans a lot of joy.

"I have spoken to my family and my dream is to be here until the end of my career. And I hope to do it at my best."

Arteta makes transfer vow amid Rodrygo to Arsenal links

Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal should be in for the “best players”, amid reports they are interested in a deal for Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

Arsenal are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer and manager Arteta has stressed they need to add “goals” and “creativity” to their squad.

The Gunners have been linked with a string of forwards and most recently Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has been mentioned as a target.

Cesc Fabregas is set to throw a spanner in the works of Arsenal and Chelsea’s summer transfer plans.

The Spaniard’s former clubs have been credited with an interest in Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez.

At only 22 years of age, the wideman has caught the eye this season with his dribbling ability. So much so that Arsenal and Chelsea are said to have sent scouts to watch him in action.

However, Fabregas - in charge of Serie A side Como - has revealed his plans to swoop in for the youngster.

Barcelona 'like' Rashford and Diaz

Barcelona sporting director Deco has publicly stated the LaLiga champions "like" Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz.

The Catalan giants have been linked with moves for the Manchester United forward - currently on loan at Aston Villa - and the Liverpool winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arteta wants Partey stay

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he would like Thomas Partey to sign a new contract at the club.

Partey’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next month and he is yet to agree fresh terms.

The midfielder is attracting interest from former club Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, as well as teams in Saudi Arabia.

Al Hilal target Fernandes

Saudi club Al Hilal are interested in signing Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

This is according to Sky Sports.

Ruben Amorim has already stated that Fernandes is not for sale, but the attacking midfielder admitted after the Europa League final loss to Tottenham that his future could be uncertain.

He said: "I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days.

“In the day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it.

"But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way.

"If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it's what it is, and football sometimes is like this."

Luka Modric becomes a free agent

Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has confirmed that he will leave the club this season when his contract expires, becoming a free agent.

His next steps are as yet unclear.

He wrote: “The time has come. The moment I never wanted to come, but that's football, and in life everything has a beginning and an end. On Saturday I will play my last match at the Santiago Bernabéu. “Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a football player and as a person.

Erik ten Hag is close to sealing his first managerial role since being sacked by Manchester United in October.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Dutchman is close to replacing Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, with good progress being made in negotiations between the two parties.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is prepared to fight for his place at Liverpool.

The Georgia international signed to the Reds last summer but spent this season on loan at Valencia, finishing 12th in La Liga.

He has said he is not considering another loan move, though, and will fight Allison for a place in the side.

Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race to sign River Plate wonderkid Franco Mastantuono, reports Sky Germany.

The 17-year-old Argentine is among the highest-rated young talents in world football, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Marseille all reported to hold an interest in the player.

United have held meetings with his camp, but the club is reportedly unready to pay his €40 million release clause.

Arsenal striker target Viktor Gyokeres has again spoken on his future as he looks set to depart Sporting CP this summer.

The Portuguese press have not allowed the Swede a moment's rest as they pepper him with questions about his future. As ever, he remained coy as he was grilled on his options ahead of the Taca de Portugal final against Benfica.

He said: “We’ll see. It’s the future. Football is like that, you never know what’s going to happen. As we saw this season, you never know what’s going to happen. And it’s the same thing now. We’ll see what the future holds.

"Hopefully you can expect I keep improving and score goals."

His teammate Pedro Goncalves added: "I asked him and we all asked him. He says he's not a fortune teller. We still have the Portuguese Cup against Benfica to play."

It seemed like the prolific Swedish striker was bound for the Gunners this summer at last as they look to finally land that statement signing up front, with his future likely to be decided after Primeira Liga champions Sporting Lisbon look to wrap up the double against rivals Benfica in the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday.

However, French outlet L’Equipe reported earlier this week that main transfer rivals Manchester United would accelerate their own swoop for Gyokeres after Wednesday night’s Europa League final.

The Brazilian forward has been a regular at the Bernabeu for years now, though uncertainty around his future has been bubbling away over recent weeks given that he hasn’t played for almost a month.

Twenty federations agree early transfer window

All 20 FIFA federations participating in this summer’s Club World Cup have now agreed to an early transfer window.

Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea Republic, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States will all opt to accept FIFA’s offer of an ‘exceptional’ window, which will be open on 1-10 June.

The window will close before the tournament begins in the early hours of June 15.

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is reportedly keen to take on a new challenge next season, and, while they are reported to be looking into signing a star winger, Chelsea are not thought to be interested in the player.

Barcelona could appoint former West Ham technical director Tim Steidten, according to reports.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the German, who left the London Stadium in January, fell out with both David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui in his time in east London.

Steidten was in charge of player recruitment for the Hammers, but was told to stay away from the Rush Green training ground by Moyes.

Leicester City are closing in appointing Russell Martin as their new manager, with Ruud van Nistelrooy set to leave the King Power Stadium.

Guardiola issues Man City quit threat

Pep Guardiola has suggested he will quit Manchester City this summer if he is given too big a squad next season.

After a season when injuries have hit City hard and the pressure of the fixture schedule only continues to grow, getting the right balance of numbers looks a difficult one but Guardiola - who has always preferred using a smaller group - said he cannot bear to leave a large number of fit players out.

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has ruled out the possibility of selling Andrey Santos this summer.

The Brazilian midfielder starred on loan at Strasbourg this season, nominated for Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year award as he helped the club to a seventh-placed finish.

There is good news for Arsenal in their pursuit of Nico Williams.

The 22-year-old is said to be one of the Gunners’ top targets this summer, though his wage demands could prove a problem.

He went on to play for Bayern Munich, Napoli and AC Milan before signing for Como in July last year, making 11 appearances in the current Serie A campaign. He will move into coaching when the season ends.

"A very beautiful career is coming to an end, a very full life. I feel very fortunate for what I've experienced," Reina, who could make his final appearance in Como's meeting with Inter Milan on Friday, told Movistar.

"I didn't expect it, but I think the time has come and I feel like bringing it to a close here."
