Postecoglou: Tottenham must keep Romero

Tottenham star Cristian Romero has been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid this summer, after speaking of his desire to play in LaLiga.

However, Ange Postecoglou to do whatever they can to keep Romero at the club, as he enters the final two years of his contract.

"Yeah, look I think Romero is absolutely important to keep at this football club,” Romero said.

"You just saw the way he's been in the last (weeks) and he hasn't been fully fit to be fair with his toe, but you've seen he's a World Cup winner.

"He is a winner. You saw that in all the big games we've had and the lads certainly respect him very highly.

"He makes them walk a bit taller, so yeah, from my perspective,e it is a no-brainer that making sure players like him (stay), because if he goes, who do you replace him with?

"There is not too many out there like him. It will be very important for the club to try and retain him, and retain him for the longer-term, I think."

Matheus Cunha is expected to take the No. 10 jersey from Marcus Rashford if his Manchester United move is completed.

United are preparing to pay the Wolves star’s £62.5m release clause and will reportedly make a formal approach next week as they aim to begin their summer transfer business by signing him to a five-year deal.

According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils have offered Cunha his preferred shirt number - which has been held by Rashford since 2018 - in a bid to tempt the wantaway Brazilian playmaker into the red half of Manchester despite United’s lack of European football.

It suggests Rashford will be leaving Old Trafford this summer, with the England international considered surplus to Ruben Amorim’s future plans and therefore seeking a transfer away from his boyhood club following the completion of his loan spell at Aston Villa.

Kelleher hints at Liverpool exit

Caoimhin Kelleher has hinted he could leave Liverpool this summer in a bid for more regular playing time.

The Irishman reiterated his ambition to be a first-choice goalkeeper as the Reds prepare to welcome Valencia shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who signed for the club for £30m last summer but remained in Spain until the end of this season.

Speaking after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace - in which he was an unused substitute - on Sunday, Kelleher said: “I think I’ve said it before that I feel like I’m a No. 1, I think I’m good enough to play week-in week-out, and that’s what I’m looking to do.”

He continued: “This season I was lucky enough to play a lot of games but definitely something I’m looking at.”

Chelsea set to focus on Ekitike

Chelsea are expected to turn their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

The Blues have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap, but the pair are more likely to join Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.

The Independent report that Ekitike is therefore emerging as a priority for Chelsea, but Frankfurt will demand around £84m.

Gyokeres speaks out on Arsenal links

Viktor Gyokeres has fuelled speculation that he could swap Portugal for north London this summer with new comments about his rumoured move to Arsenal.

Fresh from scoring a crucial stoppage time spot-kick to spark Sporting Lisbon’s comeback victory over rivals Benfica in the Taça de Portugal final on Sunday, the in-demand striker was pressed by reporters for hints on where his next club might be.

Mikel Arteta’s side are understood to have been admirers of the 26-year-old Swede since his days at Coventry City, and are believed to be among the frontrunners in the race for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Addressing the questions surrounding his future, the £60m-valued striker said on Sunday: “Let us see. It’s hard for me to say, because it is football and you never know what’s going to happen in the summer.

“So, for me to say anything else [other] than that is impossible.”

When quizzed on suggestions that he could be bound for the Emirates, Gyokeres continued: “I don’t know, I just focus on this.

“I’ve tried to focus on the last games because it’s so important and I don’t want to think about anything else. So yeah, if anything is true, let’s see in the summer.”

Ten Hag takes charge at Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed Erik ten Hag as their new head coach, replacing Xabi Alonso.

Ten Hag has been out of work since he was sacked by Manchester United in October last year, but has landed a top job and will lead Leverkusen in the Champions League next season.

The Dutchman has signed a contract through to 2027, ending Leverkusen’s search for a new manager after Alonso left to club to take charge at Real Madrid.

Ten Hag’s job will be made more difficult, though, by the expected summer departure of two key players.

Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, crucial to Leverkusen’s success over the last two seasons, are both set to complete moves to Liverpool.

Man City have made contact with Wolves as they plot a potential move for Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The club are keen to strengthen at left-back this summer and Ait-Nouri is one of those viewed as an option.

Real Madrid have now publicly confirmed the appointment of Xabi Alonso as their new manager.

The Spaniard leaves Bayer Leverkusen one year after their memorable unbeaten domestic double success to return to the Bernabeu, where he made 236 total appearances as a player between 2009-14 and won six major trophies.

Liverpool are rumoured to have now tabled a massive contract offer as they seek to wrap up the quick signing of Florian Wirtz.

The Reds are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a high-profile deal for the German international after he reportedly green-lighted a potential switch to Anfield on Friday.

Manchester City pulled out of the race for Wirtz last week, while Bayern Munich publicly acknowledged yesterday that they believed he was now leaning towards Liverpool.

According to Sky in Switzerland, Liverpool have now made the 22-year-old a contract offer worth around €20m gross per year, equating to approximately £325,000 a week.

Amorim tells Garnacho to LEAVE Man Utd this summer

Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

Lingering questions over the Argentine’s future at Old Trafford have intensified after he was restricted to a late cameo off the bench during Wednesday night’s Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in Bilbao.

Garnacho publicly expressed his disappointment at that decision by Ruben Amorim as he appeared to leave the door open to a potential exit, while his brother was also critical on social media.

Amorim would not be drawn specifically on the futures of Garnacho and United captain Bruno Fernandes - said to currently have a huge offer on the table from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia and only a week to decide - during a press conference held earlier today in advance of tomorrow’s Premier League season finale at home to Aston Villa.

However, The Athletic report that Garnacho has been told by Amorim to find a new club in talks between the manager and players held at Carrington today, in which he also confirmed that he would be remaining in his role for next season.

Will Still set to become new Southampton manager

Will Still has agreed to become the new manager of Southampton.

The Saints have been on the lookout for a replacement for Ivan Juric, who left the club last month following confirmation of their relegation from the Premier League.

The Croatian spent just 16 matches at the helm as a disastrous successor to promotion-winning boss Russell Martin, who was sacked in December.

Having been relegated with a whimper amid (now unfounded) concerns over potentially setting a new record low for points, Southampton have been under the temporary leadership of Simon Rusk while they lead the search for another new coach.

They were quickly linked with Still, the bilingual English manager who has built an impressive career in first Belgium and then France, most notably with Reims and Lens.

Still left Lens last week in order to return to the UK and be closer to partner Emma Saunders, the Sky Sports presenter who has been battling illlness.

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool is obviously the big transfer news of the weekend.

Reports emerged late on Friday that the Reds were in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over quickly wrapping up an expensive deal for the highly-rated German forward after he signalled a desire to move to Anfield.

There has been yet another twist in Liverpool’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz - the Premier League champions have made a formal offer for the player.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that former Man City captain Kyle Walker is not in his plans for next season.

The 34-year-old full-back has been on loan at AC Milan since January, when he put in a shock transfer request. He has struggled for form in Italy, but was named in Thomas Tuchel’s summer England squad today.

Kieran McKenna said that Ipswich have given striker Liam Delap their blessing to enter into contract negotiations with clubs interested in signing him.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to offer Moises Caicedo a contract extension.

The midfielder has been key to Chelsea’s 2024-25 campaign, starting all 37 of the club’s league matches, with only Marc Cucurella spending more time on pitch in all competitions.

Earlier this month, he was named both the men’s Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season.

Bayern set Wirtz deadline amid Liverpool fears

Bayern Munich are growing concerned over Liverpool’s chances of signing top transfer target Florian Wirtz, and have set a deadline to get the deal done.

Wirtz is expected to be the subject of the summer’s most expensive deal, with a transfer close of around £126million, and then the same outlay again on wages and other fees over the course of a long-term contract.

Bayern were long considered the favourites to land the Bayer Leverkusen star, but now Liverpool may find themselves in pole position.

According to Kicker, Bayern want an answer and soon, as they want Wirtz in their squad for the Club World Cup, which begins on June 15.

Raphinha has signed a contract extension that will keep him with Barcelona until 2028.

The club announced the news on Thursday.

Raphinha joined Barcelona in 2022 and his contract had been due to expire in June 2027.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a fine season, playing a key role in the club's domestic treble with 34 goals and 25 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions.

He said: "This is very rewarding for me and is something very special. It makes me very happy and a personal objective since I arrived is to give the fans a lot of joy.

"I have spoken to my family and my dream is to be here until the end of my career. And I hope to do it at my best."

Barcelona sporting director Deco has publicly stated the LaLiga champions "like" Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he would like Thomas Partey to sign a new contract at the club.

Partey’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next month and he is yet to agree fresh terms.

Al Hilal target Fernandes

Saudi club Al Hilal are interested in signing Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

This is according to Sky Sports.

Ruben Amorim has already stated that Fernandes is not for sale, but the attacking midfielder admitted after the Europa League final loss to Tottenham that his future could be uncertain.

He said: "I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days.

Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has confirmed that he will leave the club this season when his contract expires, becoming a free agent.

His next steps are as yet unclear.

Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race to sign River Plate wonderkid Franco Mastantuono, reports Sky Germany.

The 17-year-old Argentine is among the highest-rated young talents in world football, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Marseille all reported to hold an interest in the player.

United have held meetings with his camp, but the club is reportedly unready to pay his €40 million release clause.

Twenty federations agree early transfer window

All 20 FIFA federations participating in this summer’s Club World Cup have now agreed to an early transfer window.

Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea Republic, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States will all opt to accept FIFA’s offer of an ‘exceptional’ window, which will be open on 1-10 June.

The Argentine is rumoured to be on Xabi Alonso’s wishlist as the former Liverpool midfielder looks to shape his squad for a next season.

The Blues brought in Fernandez from Benfica for a whopping £102 million back in 2023.

The report also lists Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson as alternatives on Madrid’s radar.

Vazquez set for Real exit

Lucas Vazquez is set to leave Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract.

The Spaniard, 33, came through the Castilla academy before breaking into the first-team fold at the Bernabeu.

He has played 276 times for the club in ten years with the first team.

Joao Pedro 'can leave' Brighton

Joao Pedro is free to leave Brighton this summer, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Brazilian was left out of the Seagulls’ win over Wolves following an altercation with Jan-Paul van Hecke in training, with manager Fabian Hurzeler saying that the forward was omitted from the matchday squad for “private reasons”.

Now, it appears that the player’s relationship with the head coach has been fractured.

Romano claims that there is a €70 million price tag on the former Watford man’s head, with Premier League clubs rumoured to be interested in his services.

Barcelona eyeing Steidten

Barcelona could appoint former West Ham technical director Tim Steidten, according to reports.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the German, who left the London Stadium in January, fell out with both David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui in his time in east London.

Steidten was in charge of player recruitment for the Hammers, but was told to stay away from the Rush Green training ground by Moyes.

Previously, he had been in charge of recruitment at Bayer Leverkusen, overseeing the signings of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong for the Bundesliga side, as well as Mohammed Kudus’ move from Ajax to West Ham.

Now, he could move into a similar position at Barca, who have Deco as one of their sporting directors already.

He is a wanted man, with clubs from England, Saudi Arabia, and Germany all interested in his services.

Van Nistelrooy set to leave Leicester, Martin to take over

Leicester City are closing in appointing Russell Martin as their new manager, with Ruud van Nistelrooy set to leave the King Power Stadium.

The Daily Mail reports that the Foxes are set to part ways with the former Manchester United striker, after the Dutchman took over from Steve Cooper earlier in the season.

He could not stop the club falling to a relegation straight back to the Championship, and he had said previously that he wanted alignment and reassuranes from the hierarchy at the east Midlands club if he were to lead them in the second tier next term.
