Omar Berrada outlines Manchester United transfer plans

Manchester United Chief executive Omar Berrada has outlined the club’s approach to the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are expected to wrap up a deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha after agreeing to pay his £62.5million release clause and have been linked with moves for Liam Delap as well as Bryan Mbeumo.

Outgoings will be equally as important for United this summer, especially after missing out on Champions League qualification.

That said, Berrada confident about the plans that are in place.

Speaking to MUTV, he said: “I can’t talk about specifics, but I can say that we’ve been planning for many months now.

“We were ready for all the different scenarios, so now we know what we need to do.

“We have a very clear idea of where we need to invest in the squad to improve, so (technical director) Jason (Wilcox), his team, Ruben have been in talks for many months.

“Now it’s a question of executing that plan and doing it in a way that is prudent but at the same time with ambition.”

Arsenal tipped to sign Alvarez

Yesterday we brought you news of Arsenal reportedly pushing to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

That appears to be a rumour that Gunners legend Thierry Henry is fully on board with after revealing his appreciation for the former Man City striker during his appearance on the Overlap.

He said: “One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez.

“We’ve been talking about it: putting pressure on, playing it long, low, whatever you want to do.

“You see the free-kick he scored the other day? He can hold the ball alone.

“He played at the Olympic Games, he played the Copa America and I don’t hear him saying he’s tired.

“The way he plays it, I just like him. But it is possible [that Arsenal can sign him]? I don’t know.”

Exit confirmed

FA Cup winners Crystal Palace are making plans ahead of a European adventure next season.

Today, they have bid farewell to Jeffrey Schlupp who will officially leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next month.

Schlupp spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Celtic and he is expected to join the Scottish champions on a permanent basis this summer.

Arsenal and Man United in battle over Emi Martinez

Arsenal are being linked with a shock swoop to bring Emi Martinez back to the club, though could face a fight with Manchester United.

The Argentina goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move away from Aston Villa this summer, with Saudi Arabia thought to be his most likely next destination.

However, The Sun now sensationally claim that Arsenal want to bring back Martinez five years after his initial exit from the Emirates, if they lose David Raya to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

Kevin de Bruyne is set to move to Serie A this summer after leaving Man City as a free agent.

It had previously been reported that the legendary Belgian had offers from Napoli and Chicago Fire, though he is now expected to opt for Italy and confirmation is seemingly imminent.

Arsenal given permission to book Zubimendi medical

Arsenal have been given permission to book a medical for Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners have been working on a deal to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder since last summer, and have now triggered all the required clauses to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Zubimendi will be arriving for £51million. There is little rush to get a deal done but BBC Sport report that Mikel Arteta wants to get him through the door as soon as possible.

Brentford want Kelleher to replace Flekken

Right on cue, Brentford have identified their replacement for Mark Flekken.

Sky Sports report that the Bees have approached Liverpool over signing goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kelleher, 26, is keen to finally become a first-choice keeper in the Premier League after impressing for Liverpool in rare appearances, and with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to rival Alisson Becker for a starting spot next season.

Erik ten Hag is closing in on his first signing as Bayer Leverkusen manager, in the form of Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

Marcus Rashford's representives have met with Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, this morning.

An unnamed agent acting on behalf of the Manchester United forward met the Barca man at a Barcelona hotel to discuss a possible summer switch.

United are open to accepting a transfer fee of around £35million for Rashford, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa.

Sport reports that both Deco and Barca head coach Hansi Flick have approved the signing, but Rashford is in no rush to decide his future with the transfer window not yet open.

Bayern eye Gakpo swoop

Bayern Munich have shifted attentions to Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo as they look to bolster their left-wing options.

The Bundesliga giants had been hopeful of a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz to pair him with Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise in an exciting attacking trio behind Harry Kane.

However, the German international is seemingly on his way to Liverpool.

Done deal! Brentford confirm permanent signing of Kayode

Brentford have confirmed the permanent signing of Michael Kayode from Fiorentina on a five-year deal.

The defender joined on loan in January and went on to make 12 appearances for the Bees. He has signed in a deal worth around £14.7milion.

Brentford have the option to extend the contract by a further 12 months.

Kayode said: “I am so excited to extend my stay at Brentford. I have felt so welcome from the first day I arrived at the club, thanks to my team-mates and the care the coaching staff have shown me.

“I’ve wanted to play in the Premier League since I was a child and it’s been so good to do that here. I can’t wait for more next season and beyond!”

Clubs clamber for Modric signature

Luka Modric is among the most in-demand free agents in the world, and the race is wide open to sign him up.

The usual options have made their interest known, report Foot Mercato. Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia are understood to be firmly in the race, while MLS giant Inter Miami have made contact.

Unnamed clubs in Brazil are also said to be monitoring the situation. A return to the Premier League is looking unlikely at this stage.

Sunderland eye Jordan Henderson reunion

Jordan Henderson could be set for a return to his boyhood club this summer.

The England international, currently plying his trade at Ajax, will be out of contract come the end of the season, and is not likely to activate his option for a one-year extension.

Fabrizio Romano reports he could be set to sign for newly promoted Sunderland on a free transfer. he spent 13 years at the club between 1998 and 2011, starting at academy level and making his first-team debut in November 2008.

Sane's future to be decided today amid Spurs interest

Leroy Sane’s exit from Bayern Munich could be decided today as his agent is reported to be holding talks with club executives.

The German is out of contract this summer, with newly crowned Europa League champions Tottenham emerging as a potential destination next season.

According to Sky Germany, Bayern are open to a three-year contract extension, though the player is yet to make his decision.

To sign for Tottenham would mark his first return to the Premier League since leaving Man City in 2020. He enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the Etihad, becoming a two-time Premier League champion.

Newcastle reveal transfer shortlist

Despite announcing the departure of sporting director Paul Mitchell this week, Newcastle are wasting no time on their summer transfer business as they look to strengthen ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Magpies have shortlisted Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo.

They hold a long-standing interest in Guehi and came close to securing his signature last summer, but could not quite complete a deal. The Palace centre-back led the Eagles to FA Cup glory at Wembley this year, beating Man City 1-0.

His price has been quoted at £65m, which Newcastle are not willing to pay. They hope to find a compromise.

Mbuemo’s signature will also be hotly contested this summer after he scored 20 goals for Brentford this campaign. Newcastle expect to secure his services for between £50m and £60m. Manchester United also hold an interest, but are currently focused on landing Matheus Cunha.

Liverpool enter race for Ekitike

Liverpool are the latest Premier League club to court Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to Sky Germany.

Arne Slot is reported to be keen on the player as he looks to replace Darwin Nunez, who is set to leave Anfield this summer, with Atletico Madrid emerging as a potential destination.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen on Ekitike, and Frankfurt will demand €100 million for his services.

Ekitike, a two-time Ligue 1 champion with Paris Saint-Germain, played 48 times for Frankfurt this season, scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 12. Frankfurt finished third in the Bundesliga.

Sunderland 'determined' to hold on to Bellingham

Sunderland are reportedly desperate to keep Jobe Bellingham at the Stadium of Light next season.

Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid’s Jude, played 90 minutes as Sunderland pipped Sheffield United in the Championship promotion playoffs, earning a return to the Premier League for the first time since being relegated in 2017.

He has reportedly held talks with German clubs and was spotted at Frankfurt Airport with Eintracht officials and his parents earlier this week.

The Guardian now report that Sunderland’s owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, is ‘determined’ to keep the player ahead of what would be his maiden Premier League campaign. It remains unclear whether Sunderland would allow him to leave if an offer came in.

Chelsea in talks over Emanuel Emegha deal

Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Strasbourg over a deal for Emanuel Emegha.

The Blues appear to be keeping their eyes on a number of impressive players over at their sister club, who finished seventh in Ligue 1 this term under Liam Rosenior and will play in the Conference League next season.

Among that number is 22-year-old Dutch striker Emegha, who has scored 14 goals in 29 total appearances this season.

The Guardian report that Chelsea have held discussions with Strasbourg regarding a potential pre-agreement for the Netherlands Under-21 international, whom they have been watching closely, to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026.

Arsenal and Barcelona target talks summer exit

Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia is keeping his options open amid summer transfer interest in him.

The likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Barcelona have all been linked with the keeper, who is available this summer for a cut-price €25 million (£21m) due to a release clause.

"There's always news coming out in football and there are things out there [about me]," he told TV3 when asked about joining Barca, Espanyol’s cross-city rivals.

"It is not always the case that what comes out corresponds with the reality. I am just staying calm and any decision which needs to be made I will think about with those close to me, picking the best option for me."

West Brom set to make move for Mason

Tottenham are braced for an approach from West Bromwich Albion for their assistant coach Ryan Mason, with the Championship club keen on making him their new manager.

West Brom are on the hunt for a new boss after sacking Tony Mowbray last month when the club’s play-off hopes ended.

Mason, who is one of Ange Postecoglou’s assistants at Spurs, has been courted by clubs before trying to tempt him into his first managerial job.

Back in October, Anderlecht held talks with the 33-year-old, but he ended up staying at Tottenham.

Anderlecht and Mason mutually decided back then that it was not the right time for him to move to the Belgian giants.

Henry sends transfer message to Arteta

Arsenal are expected to bolster their squad this summer as they bid to end their trophy drought next season and club legend Thierry Henry has urged the club to bring in an out-and-out striker that can lead the line for them going forward.

“When you look at the injuries [for Arsenal] and the players that came, he [Mikel] brought players – he got Sterling when everyone wanted a nine, and he had time to get a nine,” said Henry.

New Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has issued a hands-off warning over Rodrygo amid links to Arsenal.

The Gunners will look to bolster their attacking options this summer and a string of forwards have since been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, including Sporting centre-forward Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Bayern issue insecure statement after missing out Wirtz

Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen has issued a statement underlining the German club's credentials in the wake of missing out on no1 transfer target Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.

"Much more has been written than spoken," Dreesen told TZ. "FC Bayern is one of the absolute top clubs in Europe and the world. Our appeal among fans, but also among players, is enormous.

"The fact that not every player will end up with us is simply part of the package; it's the same for other top clubs. But everyone knows: with FC Bayern, you can win everything every year, you're involved in every competition – the upcoming Club World Cup is a good example of that.

"Just look at which clubs are represented there – and, most of all, which (clubs) aren't. The best European clubs are competing there – including FC Bayern. Our appeal, sporting ambitions, and economic power are well known to all top players around the world."

Arsenal lodge first bid for Gyokeres

Arsenal have finally made their move for Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha claim the Gunners have made an offer worth in excess of €70m (£58m) for the Sporting striker.

It is claimed that Arsenal representatives met with Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, at the Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon over weekend and presented the offer, which was proposed to Sporting president Frederico Varandas yesterday.

Gyokeres is one of Europe’s hottest properties after scoring 53 goals, and adding 13 assists, in just 51 games this season.

Bruno Fernandes has seemingly been given a deadline this week to decide if he wants to leave Manchester United for Al-Hilal.

Not for the first time, the Portuguese midfielder is being heavily linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia as we approach the first of two summer transfer windows, in the aftermath of a truly dire season for United as a whole.

Fernandes and United boss Ruben Amorim have both been adamant for weeks now that the influential skipper is definitely staying put at Old Trafford, yet the rumours and offers persist.

Now according to the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old has 72 hours to decide whether or not to accept a final “take-it-or-leave-it” offer from Al-Hilal that would apparently see him earn £700,000 a week tax-free.

Such a deal is said to be worth an enormous £200m over three years, including bonuses.

Al-Hilal would reportedly be willing to pay over £100m for a player who remains under contract in Manchester until 2027, with the club retaining an option for another year beyond that.

Man City make move for £20m Cherki

Man City have joined the race for Lyon forward Rayan Cherki.

The 21-year-old has already confirmed he will be leaving the French club this summer and reports claim he could be available for around £20m due to a release clause in his contract of around that figure.

According to Telegraph Sport, Man City are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in the France U21 international who scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions for Lyon this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side have recently dropped out of the race for Florian Wirtz and may feel Cherki is a cheaper - and more exciting - alternative.

Tottenham pushing for Leroy Sane signing

Tottenham are said to be the English club currently showing the most interest in signing Leroy Sane.

The German winger could depart Bayern Munich this summer with his contract set to expire and no agreement yet reached over an extension, though there have been reports today over a fresh offer presented worth around €10m per year.

Sky Sport Germany reported earlier that Tottenham had been offered the chance to sign Sane, having had his Bayern team-mate Mathys Tel on loan since January and no decision yet reached over his future.

Now according to Bild, Spurs are showing real interest in a deal to bring the former Manchester City star back to English football having secured a return to the Champions League by winning the Europa League, with his wife believed to be keen on living in London.

Bayern are said to want a decision on Sane’s future before they head out to the Club World Cup in the United States on June 10.

Matheus Cunha set for medical with Man Utd deal agreed

Matheus Cunha is now set to undergo a medical at Manchester United.

That is after the Red Devils agreed to Wolves’ demands that his £62.5m release clause be honoured as it is written in his latest Molineux contract, most notably that it be paid in full by the end of the 2026/27 season.

Wolves had reportedly earlier rejected attempts by United to see if they could get a deal accepted whereby they spread the total cost over a much longer period of five years.

With a deal now struck, Cunha can officially agree personal terms at Old Trafford and complete a medical.

Per BBC Sport, United will pay the clause in three instalments, an initial £20.8m up front followed by a second payment at the end of next season and a third at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Paul Mitchell is to leave his role as sporting director at Newcastle after less than a year in the job.

Mitchell only joined the the club last June as a successor to Dan Ashworth, who went on to have a short-lived spell at Manchester United.

Mitchell will exit the club at the end of the month, leaving manager Eddie Howe in charge of recruitment until the club find a successor.

With the Magpies linked with moves for the likes of Marc Guehi, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, it remains to be seen what impact this exit has on plans this summer.

Bayern eye Gakpo swoop

Bayern Munich have shifted attentions to Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo as they look to bolster their left-wing options.

The Bundesliga giants had been hopeful of a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz to pair him with Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise in an exciting attacking trio behind Harry Kane.

However, the German international is seemingly on his way to Liverpool.

New Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has issued a hands-off warning over Rodrygo amid links to Arsenal.

The Gunners will look to bolster their attacking options this summer and a string of forwards have since been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, including Sporting CP centre-forward Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Though, more recently Rodrygo has been mentioned as a target amid reports the Brazil international could be allowed to leave Real Madrid this summer as part of a squad overhaul.

Man City have joined the race for Lyon forward Rayan Cherki.

The 21-year-old has already confirmed he will be leaving the French club this summer and reports claim he could be available for around £20m due to a release clause in his contract of around that figure.

According to Telegraph Sport, Man City are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in the France U21 international who scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions for Lyon this season.

Ruben Amorim says it is important to keep hold of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes this summer.

Rumours have begun to circulate regarding the Portugal inetrnational's future at Old Trafford, especially after admitting that the club could "cash in" on him after losing the Europa League final.

Though amid links with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, Amorim has demanded United should try to keep "one of the top players in the world".

He said: You can see by the performance, the leadership, the passion he has for the games. So it is really important, especially in these kind of moments.

"You could see that in the last game. I felt that the team was without pressure; they performed quite well and everybody wanted the ball.

"The team has different moments and in different moments, Bruno [Fernandes] is the one who really wants to take responsibility.

Milan expecting Reijnders bid

There has been a rather interesting update regarding AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City.

Corriere dello Sport claim Reijnders had booked a vacation in Ibiza at the beginning of July with his family to recover from the 2024/25 season.

However, the vacation has been cancelled amid speculation this could be connected to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola’s request to get the deal done in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on June 14.

Guardiola has put Reijnders at the top of his list of midfield signings after losing Kevin De Bruyne, and Milan could soon receive their first official offer of around €70m (£58m) for the Dutchman.

Manchester United are now waiting for Liam Delap to decide on his next move.

According to ESPN, Man Utd have agreed the framework of a deal for the striker having informed Ipswich that they will meet the £30 million release clause in Delap's contract.

In addition, the outline of personal terms have also been agreed with Delap's representatives and the transfer could move quickly once the 22-year-old makes a decision on his future.

Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton are among the teams expected to rival Man United for Delap's signature.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is close to joining Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

The Germany international becomes a free agent on July 1 after his contract Leverkusen officially expires at the end of next month.

Jude Bellingham enjoyed great success as a Borussia Dortmund player and his younger brother, Jobe, could follow that path.

Sky Germany say Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke flew to England over the Bank Holiday weekend for a meeting with the Sunderland midfielder.

Cunha message

Matheus Cunha sent a message to Wolves supporters ahead of his expected £62.5m transfer to Manchester United.

Despite a couple of stints on the sidelines through suspension, Cunha still managed 17 goals across all competitions and helped to keep Wolves in the Premier League.

In what appears to be a farewell post on social media, the Brazilian reflected on the "best season" of his life and thanked the Wolves fans.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner believes owners Fenway Sports Group owe it to the club's fans to build on their Premier League title win.

Arsenal and Man United in battle over Emi Martinez

Arsenal are being linked with a shock swoop to bring Emi Martinez back to the club, though could face a fight with Manchester United.

The Argentina goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move away from Aston Villa this summer, with Saudi Arabia thought to be his most likely next destination.

However, The Sun now sensationally claim that Arsenal want to bring back Martinez five years after his initial exit from the Emirates, if they lose David Raya to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

Football Insider, meanwhile, say that Manchester United would be well-placed to sign Martinez if they sold Andre Onana this summer.

They also credit Chelsea and Atletico with interest in the World Cup winner.

Liverpool make huge Florian Wirtz offer

Liverpool are rumoured to have now tabled a massive contract offer as they seek to wrap up the quick signing of Florian Wirtz.

The Reds are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a high-profile deal for the German international after he reportedly green-lighted a potential switch to Anfield on Friday.

Manchester City pulled out of the race for Wirtz last week, while Bayern Munich publicly acknowledged yesterday that they believed he was now leaning towards Liverpool.

According to Sky in Switzerland, Liverpool have now made the 22-year-old a contract offer worth around €20m gross per year, equating to approximately £325,000 a week.

Such a mammoth deal would put him right in among Liverpool’s top earners from the start.

A new Arsenal transfer target for the summer has reportedly emerged in the form of Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japanese star has been a key performer for Brighton for several seasons now and has remained on the south coast despite plenty of links with a move away.

Bayern Munich are said to be chasing Mitoma having seemingly missed out to Liverpool on a blockbuster deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz.

But according to Sky Germany, Arsenal have also now joined the race for the 28-year-old as new sporting director Andrea Berta assesses winger alternatives to “dream signing” Rodrygo of Real Madrid, whose huge wage demands are proving a stumbling block to a deal.

Amorim tells Garnacho to LEAVE Man Utd this summer

Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

Lingering questions over the Argentine’s future at Old Trafford have intensified after he was restricted to a late cameo off the bench during Wednesday night’s Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in Bilbao.

Garnacho publicly expressed his disappointment at that decision by Ruben Amorim as he appeared to leave the door open to a potential exit, while his brother was also critical on social media.

Amorim would not be drawn specifically on the futures of Garnacho and United captain Bruno Fernandes - said to currently have a huge offer on the table from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia and only a week to decide - during a press conference held earlier today in advance of tomorrow’s Premier League season finale at home to Aston Villa.

However, The Athletic report that Garnacho has been told by Amorim to find a new club in talks between the manager and players held at Carrington today, in which he also confirmed that he would be remaining in his role for next season.

Will Still set to become new Southampton manager

Will Still has agreed to become the new manager of Southampton.

The Saints have been on the lookout for a replacement for Ivan Juric, who left the club last month following confirmation of their relegation from the Premier League.

The Croatian spent just 16 matches at the helm as a disastrous successor to promotion-winning boss Russell Martin, who was sacked in December.

Having been relegated with a whimper amid (now unfounded) concerns over potentially setting a new record low for points, Southampton have been under the temporary leadership of Simon Rusk while they lead the search for another new coach.

They were quickly linked with Still, the bilingual English manager who has built an impressive career in first Belgium and then France, most notably with Reims and Lens.

Still left Lens last week in order to return to the UK and be closer to partner Emma Saunders, the Sky Sports presenter who has been battling illlness.

According to The Telegraph, the 32-year-old has now reached a full agreement to head to St Mary’s on a three-year contract.
