The first summer window opens at midnight tonight yet we have already seen plenty of business completed by Europe's biggest clubs. Arsenal have picked Benjamin Sesko as their first-choice striker target, ahead of Viktor Gyokeres, and personal terms have already been agreed. Talks with RB Leipzig over a fee around £70million are now ongoing. Martin Zubimendi is also set to undergo a medical, while there is interest in Leroy Sane.
One of the biggest deals of the summer is brewing with Bruno Fernandes 'seriously considering' a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal having offered a £80m transfer fee and a tripling of his Manchester United salary. Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong for £30million, shortly after Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid early for a £10m fee. A club-record-smashing £109m bid for Florian Wirtz has also been submitted
Chelsea have booked Liam Delap's medical for Monday, after beating the likes of Newcastle and United to the striker's signature, and could sell Christopher Nkunku to Tottenham. Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Tijjani Reijnders and also want £20m-rated Rayan Cherki. The race for Franco Mastantuono is hotting up. Mbeumo will not be sold cheaply
19:25 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneBrentford manager Thomas Frank has warned clubs wanting to sign Bryan Mbeumo that a summer transfer will not come cheap.
Mbeumo enjoyed a stunning season for the Bees, scoring 20 Premier League goals from the wing, along with a further seven assists, and is expected to be the subject of transfer interest this summer.
Arsenal are known admirers, as Mikel Arteta looks for new attacking options, while Newcastle are expected to test Brentford's resolve as Eddie Howe aims to reduce the burden on star striker Alexander Isak.
Frank expects bids for Mbeumo, but says an exit will only come with a high price.

Wirtz to Liverpool transfer timeline
19:00 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneSky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has delivered an update on Florian Wirtz and it’s very positive for Liverpool
He said: "Bayer Leverkusen are optimistic to get the deal done very quickly.
"It is the ambition of both clubs and i expect a total agreement between both clubs on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
"There are also still talks regarding a potential player from Liverpool, combined with a transfer fee of around €120m to €140m.
"Both teams are close, the atmosphere is very positive and Florian Wirtz is waiting for the green light to pass his medical."

'Positive' Sane talks
18:35 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneLeroy Sane has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham said to be interested in a free transfer.
However, it would appear the winger is likely to stay at Bayern Munich.
According to reports, Wednesday’s meeting between Sane’s representative Pini Zahavi and Bayern Director of Sport Max Eberl has been described as “positive”.
Whilst there isn’t yet an agreement over a new contract, it is understood Bayern are hopeful a deal can be struck.
They don’t have much time to secure Sane’s signature as his current deal runs out on June 30.

Cryptic Bruno Fernandes?
18:10 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneIs it a day for cryptic transfer hints?
First Bayer Leverkusen with Florian Wirtz and now, Bruno Fernandes has decided to confuse Manchester United supporters with a post on social media.
The United captain is subject of interest from Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal and there is a growing expectation that he will make the move.
That said, he took to Instagram earlier, shared an image on his Instagram Stories, which read: "If you tried and failed, congratulations! There are people who don't even try."
What does this mean, Bruno?

Barcelona eye Martinelli switch
17:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneAccording to reports in Spain, Gabriel Martinelli is on Barcelona’s shortlist this summer.
The Arsenal winger is said to be a back-up option for the LaLiga champions if they are unable to sign Luis Diaz or Marcus Rashford.
Martinelli endured a mixed season with the Gunners, netting 10 goals across all competitions.
Whilst he has not been tipped for an exit, he could find first-team opportunities limited if Arsenal are able to land a left-winger themselves this summer amid links to Rodrygo and Nico Williams.

Muslic leaves Plymouth for Schalke
16:05 , Alex YoungPlymouth have announced boss Miron Muslic has left the club to take over at German second-tier side Schalke.
Argyle "reluctantly allowed" Muslic to begin talks to leave earlier this week and the manager has now taken over the seven-time German champions, who were relegated two years ago.
Muslic replaced Wayne Rooney at Home Park in January but could not save Plymouth from suffering relegation to League One.
A Plymouth statement read: "Miron Muslic has departed the club to join 2. Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04.
"Muslic joined Argyle in January, overseeing 23 matches, including the memorable victory against Liverpool in the Emirates FA Cup. Despite his best efforts, he could not stave off relegation with Argyle dropping to Sky Bet League One on the final day of the season.
"We wish Miron all the best for his future endeavours."

Rashford ready to take pay cut to join Barcelona
15:47 , Alex YoungMore details have emerged from Barcelona's meeting with Marcus Rashford representatives earlier this week.
Sport journalist Toni Juanmarti, who broke the news of the meeting yesterday, reports today that Rashford is willing to accept a pay cut to join Barcelona on a straight loan deal.
Rashford currently earns more than £300,000 a week at Manchester United, who would want a loan fee to part ways with their former talisman.
The report adds that Barcelona see signing Rashford on those terms as as "a very low-risk operation", which has seen the player move ahead of Luis Diaz on the list of transfer priorities.

Man City put McAtee up for sale
15:22 , Alex YoungManchester City are expected to listen to offers for James McAtee this summer.
The young midfielder has been allowed to join England’s Under-21s squad for the summer Euros, and Manchester Evening News report that signals a likely end to his time with City.
Guardiola has been clear in his belief that his squad must be together for the Club World Cup, and MEN report that McAtee’s sanctioned exit underlines the player’s lowly squad status.
City have previously rejected bids worth up to £30million for McAtee, but are not expected to be open to a sale.
Tottenham are among a host of clubs who have shown interest.

Inzaghi agrees Al Hilal move
14:55 , Alex YoungNews out of France ahead of the Champions League final claims that Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has agreed to become Al-Hilal head coach.

He will join for free once his Man City contract expires on June 30.

Manchester United identify Fernandes replacement
13:40 , Alex YoungManchester United want Sporting's Pedro Goncalves to replace Bruno Fernandes.
The United captain is in talks over an £80million move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal and there is a growing expectation that Fernandes will make the move.
It will leave United manager Ruben Amorim furious at losing his captain at the end of a historically bad season, but his replacement will be well-known to him.
Sporting value Gonclaves at £70m after a stunning rise to prominence after being handed his debut by Amorim five years ago.

Milan could have signed Walker permanently for £4.3million option to buy clause, but Milan sacking Sergio Conceicao, and appointment of Max Allegri as their new manager, appears to have ended Walker's hopes of staying put.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Walker does not have a future at Man City but will not be short of offers this summer.

Ronaldo uncertainty continues
10:25 , Alex YoungCristiano Ronaldo's exit from Al-Nassr was expected to be announced this week, but there are now reports he could stay at the club.
Ronaldo looked set to leave Saudi Arabia after two and a half years, 99 goals and no major trophies. He has been linked with moves to MLS, Brazil, Turkey and former club Sporting Lisbon.
But FIFA president Gianni Infantino is desperate to have him involved in the Club World Cup, which launches a newly expanded version in two weeks' time.
That left the door open for fellow Saudi side Al-Hilal, who are in the Club World Cup, to agree a short-term contract with Ronaldo.

Fernandes exit should see Mainoo stay put
09:14 , Alex YoungBruno Fernandes leaving Manchester United means Kobbie Mainoo stays put this summer, despite Ruben Amorim not being wholly convinced by the player.
Fernandes is increasingly likely to move to Saudi Arabia in an £80million deal, and the club knows Mainoo also departing could lead to, as the I Paper put it, "all-out rebellion."
Mainoo is a popular figure among fans, but Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the English midfielder. His sale would go down as 'pure profit' for a club who are in need of a cash injection.
Amorim wants his players to be all action and high intensity, two attributes the manager fears Mainoo does not possess. That has led to United being reluctantly open to offers, though Fernandes' exit should shut that door.

08:56 , Alex YoungTottenham have made their interest known in Xavi Simons, who has decided to leave RB Leipzig this summer.
According to ESPN, Spurs are monitoring the situation. Simons is valued at a €80million (£67m) by Leipzig, so would be a club-record deal for a player thought of as capable of elevating the starting line-up.

Friday 30 May 2025 22:34 , Arthur FerridgeSaudi Pro League side Al Nassr have reportedly named Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as a top target in the summer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Barcelona also hold an interest, but their limited finances mean the possibility of a move will come down to the price set by Liverpool.
Diaz could be set to replace Ronaldo at Al Nassr should the Portugal legend take his leave from the club this summer, with reports from the Spanish press claiming he is interested in signing a short term deal to compete at the Club World Cup this summer. Al Hilal and Monterrey are among the several interested parties.

Delap, 22, had been expected to start the opening match of the U21 Euros in June, against Czech Republic, but the Blues hope he will opt instead to play the Club World Cup in the United States, where they will face ES Tunis, Flamengo, and a third unconfirmed team in the group stage.

Frimpong won the Bundesliga with Leverkusen in 2023-24, playing under the tutelage of Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso.
“For me, it was a no-brainer,” he said.

Amorim predicts Fernandes will stay at United
Friday 30 May 2025 16:33 , Arthur FerridgeRuben Amorim has made his feelings towards Bruno Fernandes clear, saying the forward needs to stay in Manchester.
The Portuguese is reportedly weighing up an £80million move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Frank issues transfer warning over Mbeumo
Friday 30 May 2025 14:30 , Alex Young"It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount," Frank said of Mbeumo to Viaplay. "It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot.
"Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done. There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for.
"I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don’t look at him. I would be surprised with what he has to offer.
“How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player."

AC Milan sack Conceicao as Allegri appointment prepared
Friday 30 May 2025 10:40 , Alex YoungAC Milan have sacked coach Sergio Conceicao after just five months in charge.
Milan have endured a disappointing season in which they finished ninth in Serie A and missed out on European competition for the first time since 2019.
"The Club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the team over the past few months," Milan said in a statement.
Massimiliano Allegri is expected to return as head coach, 11 years after his first spell and a year after leaving Juventus.
Conceicao was appointed in December as a replacement for Paulo Fonseca and got off to an impressive start as he led Milan to victory in the Italian Super Cup in his second match in charge.
However, results in the league did not improve under the Portuguese and they were also eliminated from the Champions League in a playoff loss to Dutch side Feyenoord in February.
Milan's last hope of salvaging the season ended earlier in May with a bitter 1-0 loss to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final.
Conceicao was not on the touchline for the season's final match against Monza at San Siro, having received a one-match ban after being sent off in the defeat by AS Roma last weekend, a result that ended Milan's last hope of securing a European spot.
